Can we seriously accept that AR is having to spend his whole summer trying to keep our team together???
These players should have been offered new contracts last year and salaries based on if we did or did'nt go up!!!
Now while every other manager is out trying to strengthen there side for next season our manager is wasting his time trying to keep ours together when he should have the whole summer to get new players in!!!
    IT's a disgrace!!!

It's not a disgrace. We've seen the folly of living beyond our means in the not-too-distant past.

Ridsdale was involved in the signings of most of the players who are now out-of-contract. It's unlikely that we'd have been able to even offer them the same terms in the event of our staying in League One.

Even bearing in mind our promotion, we are likely to have the smallest budget in the Championship. Is it wise to spend a significant portion of that budget re-signing players who managed to get out of League One on penalty kicks?

We can and will sign a number of good players, within our budget.

    Another sensible poster.

There are some who say things just for the sake of it.

I believe we will add good players to the squad and preserve the nucleus of last years squad. I also believe we will stay up.

Please God we will but I just think we could have made AR life a lot easier by offering deals last year!!!
I think if we offered our players deals last year they would sign as they need stability too but now they have other options which were not there mid way thru last year...and more than likely they would have signed then!!!

But what you appear to be suggesting is the players being offered a contract that staes if we are in League 1 they get, for example £2k a week, and if we are promted they get £4k and you'd want them to sign that during last season…..why would they, they might want to leave if we aren't promoted so wouldn't sign it anyway.

The situation regarding which players we wanted to keep and which we would release would be different depending on the division we were going to be in, the transfer targets different etc etc.

McPhail has shown that regardless he'd have been off.

or even it would have given this board something to moan about even more

if we offered deals earlier, why haven't they signed, fans on there back for it, poor performances no promotion

The seven players were offered increased deals before the playoff final.
