Saw them on saturday at the old trafford cricket ground, they are a band totally at there top at the moment!
Turner has got better with the crowd...he never used to talk to them, fast becoming a great front man of a band.
Not much better drummers around in todays bands as good as matt helders
The same can be said for jamie cook as guitarists go
Top day and a top band!

i said at the moment...what are oasis, stones or the who doing at the moment? nt

im not arguing that fact...those 3 bands ARE better than the monkeys and they have got a long way to go to get to their levels but right at this moment the monkeys are on form!

The band will be gone granted but Turner will be around for a while as a song writer.

Even if they don't last another 12 months it doesn't make them any worse than the 3 you mentioned.

Remember the ***** Oasis has released and it shows that you should go out on top.

i disagree...i think the only reason they would have split up is if the old bassist would have stopped,he just wasnt interested but with nick o'malley they have a experienced bassist who has been in bands
reckon the monkeys are around for a good while yet

Oasis recording a new album and the Who are touring, Rolling stones don't really need to busy themselves do they.

Topical

The Who Sheffield Arena

"We are not the Arctic Monkeys," says Pete Townshend, taking the stage dressed like Man at Asda.

"I wouldn't want to go through that skin condition again," he adds, before launching into I Can't Explain, The Seeker and Relay.
The Who are up and running. Roger Daltry twirls his microphone and Townshend slashes at his guitar. This is everything you ever wanted to know about Rock 'n' Roll.
Who Are You takes the audience on a frenetic black-and-white train journey, courtesy of a giant video screen.
Then it all goes a bit shaky, with a plethora of tunes from the recent album Endless Wire.
"Thanks for buying it," says Townshend. "If we sell as many as the Arctic Monkeys it'll be a miracle."
The crowd gets restless and The Who become like an aged monster, stumbling, flailing but still spewing fire and wreaking havoc.
"This has got a bit more teeth," says Townshend, rattling out the opening chords of The Real Me from Quadrophenia.
That's what people came for Pete – only middle-aged wasteland.
The encore is brilliant. An abridged version of Tommy, the writer's magnum opus, brings the house down. Daltry is genuinely chuffed at the reaction.
They end with Tea And Theatre, a new song performed by two old codgers, who need nothing more than acoustic guitar and voice. It's a fantastic way to close.
The beast that is The Who will soon pass away. The Arctic Monkeys must now pick up the baton and run with all their might.
For the next 40 years.

more or less one trick ponies. until they can really show off a wide variety of musical ability instead of that predictable sound of theirs they will go the same way as Oasis and end up as parodies of themselves.

"if not the world at the moment"

Two words: Foo Fighters.

Anyone who saw them in London recently will agree that they are miles better than the Arctic Monkeys.

and you cant judge a band as been better than the monkeys by saying look at the gig in london etc etc its more than just 1 gig!!!

I know what you are trying to say but will need more backup than that how many no1's have FF had in the last 2 years? compared to AM?

The gig was a reference. I've seen both bands about half a dozen times and I'd see the Foo Fighters every single time over the AM.

Do Number 1s really count for anything?

Rhianna has spent longer as number one that the monkeys did with their last hit, so Rhianna's songs are better?

Look at what the FF have achieved over the last 10 years; will the AM achieve that in the next ten? I doubt it.

I was their yesterday and their songs sounded much too "samey".

As good as they were at Glastonbury, Benicassim and Old Trafford

The Killers gig at Glastonbury is the best show of the year by a country mile.

The Arctics are still awesome though don't get me wrong

juts feel your argument cant stand at the minute till the monkeys have been around long enough. Personally i would take the monkeys any day of the week over the FF's but that opinion regarding the number 1 question well how else can u judge if a band is popular or better than any other band? i know the charts are nothing at the minute but they still give you some indication of how a bands popularity is holding.Comparing the two bands is hard because its different music also. I just cant see how a argument can be made by people saying "the artic monkeys are not as god as XXXX band"
I could stand the "i dont like the artic moneys" argument, but if it was'nt for opinions music would be sh*t

Is saying the Arctic Monkeys are the best band in the world not comparing them to every artist of every genre and then saying they are better...?

So you can't say they aren't as good as someone because that's comparing them and you can't do that, however if you're saying they are better than someone, then that's fine.

I see.

Think you've got a bit carried away with it all there...

Good you enjoyed the show but I can think of any number of bands I'd rather go and see.
