Leon has done well the last couple of games and I hope he continues. But to read some of the posts on here shows the fickle nature of some people. Howard has been our most consistent goal threat all year, yet he doesn't play, his replacement does well, we win two matches and suddenlypeople can't wait toget rid. We go on about the loyalty we expect from players and then go out and stabour skipperin the back.

We've had threads about next years captain, next years midfield, who we're gonna buy with the £3M. FFS. He's still at the club, he's still captain and when he's fit he's still firstchoice in the middle of the park.

I seem to recall this time last year a Coventry born striker who's back here warming the bench suddenly had a purple patch, one swallow etc.

I want Leon to do well, I think he will, but the way you'd read things on here, Howard's gone and we've got twice the player in his place. Shoddy.

agree - Howards a top player and we need players of his class

if we can find away to keep both next year then Davey should do it.

    I totally agree mate

Howard is the best player at the club, that includes Da Silva, Leon, JCR, etc. yet people on here are wanting shut. fecking Idiots if you ask me.
Leon is too light weight to play all season, no matter what position.

while howard is here davey will never play diego in the centre. but diego is useless unless played central, too slow for wing. something as to give,

i think howard as been great but don't think it is fickle of fans saying they would be happy to see him go 3mill

Think De Silva is best player at club...

    But Howard isn't far off.

I'll presume he won't risk him for Tuesday, maybe have him on the bench. Then he should be completely fresh for the Leicester game.

    Thats football fans for you

Though I must admit I am a bit baffled. If he had been a striker with 15 goals this season no one would be saying that at all

I really hope we have him with us next season - without his goals we would probably be sandwiched between Colchester and Southend, and out of the cup after Liverpool, also doubt we would have been in a position to sign Da Silva and MAcken.

The fact that Leon's performances mean we look like we can play without him if needed - at least away from home means we have options - something we havent really known we had.

That said if (and its definitely an if) a Premiership side comes in for him with a good offer to the club (£3Million +) and vastly improved personal terms for Brian - we should let him go and wish him every success.

If Howard is fit for Tuesday....

I would not change the starting eleven if I was in Davey's position. Dangerous Brian would start on the bench and would be a good impact substitution if we need him. I just feel certain that he will depart in the summer and that will be his reward for an outstanding season, which has benefited both himself and the club. Both have gained by his form this season. It has been a 'win-win' situation for both club and player and it will also be a 'win-win' for club and player if he does negotiate a deal with a premiership club. After all, Howard will get promoted in status and wages (and deservedly so) and we will gain financially.

If he has the opportunity to promote himself in the close season, you know he just has to take it.

What a season for player and club!!!!

i don't think its fans wanting rid of howard, i think they are simply aware that we are unlickely to be able to keep him in the transfer window and they are no longer as worried about it as they previously were, due to leon's top preformances in the last two games

    RE: Howard overated

dont get me wrong, howard has been great this season and his goals have saved us however leon has much more skill, vision, technical ability when played in the centre. Also howards likes his booze too much, often seen round town every week drunk struggling to stand up.

I'll be honest I have said that Howard needs to be more consistant all season and thats fans are blind when he plays badly becasue of the amount of goals he has scored - yet how many of these have been penalties??? However although I have slated him at times this year when he is on form he is superb and he puts in 110% every game but I do not think he has been as good as some people have made out. As an overall player I think Anderson Da Silva is better but we have built a team around Howards strengths of getting forward and arriving late in the box, hence why we always have a defensive midfielder alongside him. If he does leave and I hope he doesn't at least we have a player already at the club in Leon who looks like her can slot in!

    Howard Is A Class Player............

but nobody deserves to be dropped for Tuesday and so i'm hoping Davey has the guts to put him only on the bench.

Has anyone considered playing him up front or on the left side of midfield?

we played him on the left side for a while last season to little avail, wouldn't mind seing him playing just of a striker, preferably macken as he's better at holding up the ball

Just goes to show the one you think is adaptable is Howard not Leon. That says it all.

    Very

I don't understand it. Why can't we have three in midfield with Leon, de Silva & Howard?
As soon as we get any decent player, there seems to be people who delight in pointing out their bizarrely conceived views on the player's supposed weaknesses, whilst conveniently ignoring the obvious strengths. This season Howard, de Silva, Muller, Leon, Macken, Steele, Souza, Foster, Nyatanga, Kozluk and Campbell-Ryce have all fallen victim to it.

My thoughts too Wath. As good an engine Howard has, as well as he'd one this season, I simply don't think he's quite as good as people make out. For me there is only one thing missing - his teamwork. Not off the ball, mind, only when he's on the ball. He works his socks off for the team when he doesn't have the ball, tracking back, trying to do more jobs than he probably should. The holding player in midfield is there to do that job, no need for Bri to track back all the time. I don't know if he trusts the person alongside him in that holding role enough tbh. I may be completely wrong, but when we had Johnson or Anderson in the middle with him then he seemed much more creative. But with Hassell alongside him it seems as though he's trying to do Bobby's job as well as his own.

For me all he needs to do to improve is learn from Diego - pass the ball without trying to do it all on his own. Look for the killer ball also. He will get much more credit if he pulls it off rather than losing it easily by trying to take too many players on.

Not only is Howard a very good player, he has been inspirational in leading the team to a great cup run. Captain marvel? i should say, we would be struggling without his goals this season and his leadership on the field. Some mignt say that he boll*cks his team mates to much, but Howard is a winner and for me that is a great quality. How many other players have taken their team to a FA cup semi-final at Wembley, instead of slagging him off, we should all be very proud what he as acheived this season. :)
