Davey has asked for a personal hearing - this I think is a great move on his part. The FA will no doubt dole out their usual santion against managers whose action that the do not approve, but in doing so they will give him the perfect forum him to express his views about their inaction re Morgan. Regardless of what they do the press will have a field day raising all the issues about the situation. Whatever they do they cant win - IMHO of course - dont you feel sorry for them?
They wont care Will probably up the charge to bringing the game into disrepute if he brings morgan up - Doubtless he will get a 3 match touchline ban anyway
He'll be able to say what he wants especially to the press afterwords when the hypocrisy is clear for all to see. The FA can choose to ignore it too.
course he will he will say that the officials' inaction throughout the game culminated him dishing out the abuse to the linesman in the 82nd minute. Morgan's attack on Hume being one of those episodes of inaction.
Good way to keep story 'live'.... I also think this is a good move by Davey. It may not change the outcome, but the media department at Oakwell ought to make very sure that local and national media are notified, especially Sky Sports, who have given very good coverage. It will ensure that the story does not go away. I actually think that the best we can hope for is some investigative journalism, possibly in the years ahead to open the original can of worms at the FA. BFC need to find other ways of keeping the story live from time to time. The Sheffield United away game is another opportunity, along with any future fixture between the two teams. There may be other similar future injuries, which could bring the story back and there may be future indiscretions, either by Morgan himself, or by Sheffield United. All are occasions to keep the story live. I honestly believe that there will eventually be justice for Iain. The funny thing is that the more the FA try to bury it, the harder is likely to be the bite in the end. They should have learned their lesson already.
The FA know there position is completely wrong but they are too scared of upsetting FIFA now that Platter is on board with the World Cup Bid. FIFA rollocked them after the Thatcher incident - they now don't have any balls.
If the situation with Hume does not fall into the criteria of exceptional circumstances WHAT DOES and why not this situation. It is there to see through the inaction of the ref that the elbowing taking place in the first half could have been curtailed by the referee taking decisive action . Affirming the ground rules to all players by cautions and yellow if not red cards .case scenario is that it is not a boxing match waged one way but a football game supposedly played with skill. Does this case scenario as Sep Batter enthuses to keep football the same regarding technology to be played the same way on parks and at your your football club enable team players to go over the top. ,If nothing comes of this it gives cart blanch for little Johnie aged 10 playing for his local team to go out and replicate the scene at Oakwell ,fracture someones skull and under FA rules and get away with it .Do you risk sending your own child out on for his local Sunday team seen as this is permissible. There should be a threshold set to what is regarded as dangerous play and life threatening, and should be discouraged.possibly long bans and a fine of considerable amount set, with medical guidance on the depth of the injury when recovery is confirmed with the gateway left open for compensation if the players career has been ended.
I hope the club , Davey and Hume all get the very best as far as lawyers go and take Morgan and that pillock who calls himself a ref and the FA all to task over this and make them all pay for what they have done to Hume.
Did anyone get any response from FIFA? I'm sure I saw some posters saying they were contacting FIFA once the FA did their 3 wise monkeys response - not seen any responses though
