Are there any mechanics on here by any chance?

A car mechanic would suffice as it's more of a car query than a bike query.

    Thanks.

    I was just wondering

If you knew how to test an ABS system and Power Steering.

Obviously very few bikes have ABS(that the college can afford) and I'd pay to see a bike with power steering(!) so we have to do our work on cars for these two parts of our course. Just wondering how to test these two systems?

    well ...

to test the ABS wait till its raining and then drive very fast and stand on the brakes....

I thought these days you plug in a PC and run the diags but I'm not sure.
The cars I used to work on didnt have such innovations

    We need to test them...

With equipment, we can't just jump in the car and test them...especially seeing as I haven't got my licence!

I was just wondering if to test them you needed to measure the resistance, voltage, etc. from the ECU to wheel sensors, etc.

Same for power steering, we can't go out on the roads and test it, as we need to test each component.

It's all new to me, so I was just looking for a bit of guidance.

RE: We need to test them...

PAS & ABS Not testable components ,pas consists of the pas rack, pump feed and return pipe and the fluid resovior, all you can check for is a leak of fluid on the system,as for the abs again nothing you can test would just register a fault on the ecu if a fault occurs
