dunno. hence the poll.
btw, I've not worked since november, love having time off, gives you chance to enjoy the finer things in life (pint)

RE: never been on dole, will be out of work, but won't claim anything nt I'm the same, self employed soIdon't get things like sick pay, holliday pay, redundancy money etc.
I have to put enough money aside when working for times of no work and have done for many years.
(fishin)

Whiilst I have been on the dole and not claimed a penny for nearly 10 months You don't get any credit from anyone. And then the goverment stops your pension when your retire because you missed NI contributions. Get your dues back lad. You've paid them in!
RE: Whiilst I have been out of work and not claimed a penny for nearly 10 months nt Not on the dole - obviously. If I was on the dole - I'd ave been claiming - and I didn't and that.
Exactly. I wasn't going to claim but I've worked since leaving school 11 years ago. Enough other people do it and have no intentions of getting a job. Only three weeks since working and already getting fed up
Thanks for taking part seems all the media histiria is a bit unfounded with nearly 50%still in a secure job.
If we went back to the 80's I would have thought it would have been more like 50%never worked, especially in my generation who left school as all thepits closed and recession kicked in soon after.
for us the recent "boom " never realy happened here,we were still regenerating the area, now with the infrastructure in place I think we willbe better placed than most to ride out the strorm or mild breeze as it turns out.
If you are young my advise to you is to have a good time while you can, because in five years time you will probably be complainingabout being over worked.
(Y) cheers people. Just a thought Ryhill Tyke I gather from your posts that you are a plasterer and may be laid off soon. Hope it doesnt happen for you - BUT - I know the building game is on its arse for now but the insurance industry is still at full steam. It may be in your interest to find out which firms do insurance work and give them a ring. One in your village CB builders do for starters.
Aye, wage freeze last month. Supose it could be worse. Company share price down over 95% in last 12 months (I'm £4.5K down) (shithappens). A couple of years ago the stock market had us worth £1.2billion - Close on friday now worth £45million (With over £400 million of debt) /poo
Got laid off in October.... Just started a new job thank god. It was well boring being off work and I felt a right plank when I eventually went to sign on. But for now everythink is OK.
i think it will be 12-18 months until the construction industry improves for new build anyway, social housing and refurbs have work
