Allegedly. Somewhere on eldon street, one of the banks on there. It was all shut off. Nothing on the news yet.
RE: at first it was reported to be HSBC, but now supposed to be Nationwide BS Wasn't sure where it was. GloucesterRedBigbro let me know this morning that everything was shut off when he was at work. Some of the traffic will have been rerouted.
Radio and TV reported that "an incident" had taken place between Kendray Street and Peel Square and that Eldon Street had been closed.... so, cos I know people working that way on, I have been told... a) that yesterday the doors to HSBC weren't working as they should b) that the Berneslai Homes Property Shop has been closed so, thats where HSBC came from, but apparently it is supposed to be the Nationwide Building Society that has been "done over"... thats as much as I know, but If I find anything else out I will shout..
from Hallam FM There has been an attempted bank robbery in Barnsley town centre this morning. A car has been rammed into the front of the Nationwide on Eldon Street. Police tells us it is unclear whether any cash has been stolen or if they attackers were armed
Definately Nationwide I've been into town this morning and was on pretty much the first bus along Eldon street on my way home. A window through on nationwide and police around.
They bounced off Nationwide and hit McDonalds. Some bounce eh? </p> My guess is they were trying to knock the ATM out of the front and take it away.</p>
Frum star. <div class="ds-headline" id="ds-headline">Road closed by ram raiders</div><div class="ds-headline"></div><div class="ds-firstpara" id="ds-firstpara">ONE of Barnsley town centre's main roads was closed by police this morning after a ram-raid. </div><div class="va-bodytext" id="va-bodytext"> A green Vauxhall Vectra estate car was used to smash into the Nationwide Building Society on Eldon Street at around 7.20am. It is believed the raiders failed to get away with any money, and no-one was injured, but police today appealed for information from anyone in the area at the time. The green car was found abandoned around the corner and the three occupants are believed to have made their getaway in another vehicle. Officers sealed off the area and traffic was diverted along Kendray Street to Peel Square. Anyone with information should call Barnsley CID on 01226 736351.</div>
Sounds a bit desperate to me Surely if they were after the cash machine they would have needed a JCB?
Could have been done better couldn't it? Drive the JCB through town, rip out the ATM, chuck it in a white van and away.</p>
RE: Could have been done better couldn't it? easier still to bribe a call centre worker for personal details then empty their accounts.
RE: It would fit in a really big van But is there such thing as a really big van? When does a van become a lorry or a truck? Is there an official definition?
RE: from Hallam FM Cracker the 'rock' band of the late nineties? Had a hit with 'Low'? In what way are you like them?
