Nobody knows if we are instrested in signing him but I hope we do. He has been made a big impact on the pitch andvreates chances i think he needs to work on his end product after he does an amazing skill, takes a touch and bang but he can finish. He's certainly a class player for us and we should sign him up but I am not sure if the club want to or Newcastle would let him go.:nails::nails:
I too would like Armstrong to stay as long as there is no silly 'guarantee he plays' clause. He does offer us something different to what we already have. He must frighten defenders to death when playing off their shoulder with his pace and directness, not affraid to have pop at goal from anywhere either.
No chance of Newcastle letting him go unfortunately. They signed him up to a 5 year contract as he was joining us on loan - that signalled their intentions straight away.
http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=74581 2 in 3 at the start for us but now only 1 in 9. He plays for his country at youth level and comes from a big club that rate him highly but that doesn't mean anything to me. He's a striker and they should always be looked at based on goals scored. Payne should be getting regular game time now he's back fit and for all we know there might be better options out there to push on in the second half of the season and give us a better push at overachieving with a top half finish.
http://www.nufcblog.com/2016/12/20/armstrong-loan-decision-not-unexpected-acid-test-in-summer/ sounds a chance of staying at least.
i think he's a great prospect. his pace is unreal. still don't think he's been played in the best coupling though, which i think is upfront with marley. little prospect of that though, with sam a shoe-in. i don't think sam and armo really work together.
He gives us something a bit different so if we can keep him until end of season it's definitely worth it
I really want him to stay here at Oakwell until the end of the year but the club after start using the strikers better. For me AA wants to play on the counter. Cardiff away from what I see would have been perfect for him. Wigan at home isn't what he plays for but when he will create a something from nothing. Will Newcastle want him to stay with us? I think they will want to loan him out again but to Barnsley ? i'm not sure. They will want to look at clubs that play similar to Newcastle. He might even spend the majority of January at Newcastle just to be around Gayle because they are very similar players. Watching Derby on the highlights recently and when on TV and he's perfect for them. Counter attack. Real nice brand of football to watch and going places. Butterfield, Bradley Johnson and Will Hughes feeding him balls in behind the oppo's defence. Real threat wide too to show that sharpeness in the box.
We score plenty but we need to score more in the tight games. prefer to win 3 games 1-0 then win one 3 and not score in the other two.
Nearly every club in our league would love our goal scoring ability. Huddersfield have won a dozen games this season by one goal that's how lucky they have been. It's our defence that needs sorting out because it's far too leaky.
I'm unsure about Armstrong to be honest. I can clearly see that he has loads of potential but he doesn't appear to have done it for us as his goalscoring record is poor. I agree that he and Sam are not good together. I'm always biased towards Watkins as he can partner anyone successfully. His pace is tremendous, but he needs to start scoring goals. If he returns I'm not going to be too upset.
Agree with you there Tina - Its probably coincidence but since we started matches with Winnal and Bradshaw up front rather than Winnall and Armstrong we have been pretty successfull (Jinxed pigsty excluded) yes because we only scored 4 goals - 3 of them on the break I think Cardiff away was perfect for Winnall and Bradshaw as well
I like Arma mate, but Derby have Darren Bent and Matej Vydra. They aren't looking at prospects. It's all about the here and now there.
I don't think he'd be a proscpect I think he's a player that could really push the others. If it wasn't for Gayle then I don't think Newcastle the leagues outstanding team would loan him out. They did have him on the bench earlier on in the season.
