It's time to ask - what was your favourite album of 2015?

My vote goes for Anareta by Horrendous. Quality melodic death metal.

I'm a big music fan Conan but i'm afraid the Melodic Death Metal is something i can't get into.

Each to their own as we are frequently reminded on here

Yes but being the narrow minded snob that I am I found them to be hipsters!

Haha I've heard that criticism levelled at them by a lot of people. Not usually by style, but I really like them. Saw them and Dillinger Escape Plan at a festival this year and they were both immense

You might like Liturgy too - they've been criticised as hipster black metal as well!

There's been quite a few good albums this year, Stereophonics' Keep The Village Alive, The Prodigy's The Day Is My Enemy and Noel Gallagher High Flying Birds' Chasing Yesterday but one I stumbled across the other week has to be my favourite album of the year and that is The Darkness's Last of Our Kind. Couldn't recommend it enough, Justin Hawkins's voice has a lot more range to it than ever before and there are plenty of amazing rock songs, one that sounds very Queen-esque I'd say. This is my favourite song from the album https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UY7fZl9Rfn0

Great album. It's definitely in my top 5 of the year. I wasn't fussed about his previous stuff, but when I heard Grim Cinema on Marc Riley back in January I was an immediate convert.

Yep, it was a chance hearing of Grim Cinema which grabbed me as well. Checked out his older stuff but found it hard going. Unbelievable that he was homeless for a year!

I have to admit I've been terrible at listening to new music this year. Really liked Gengahr, Ghost Poet and Boxed In. My favourite was The Race for Space by Public Service Broadcasting though. Wasn't sure they could sustain the format beyond one album but if anything this one was better as a whole than the first.

I really enjoyed their Yuri Gagarin tune, but assumed it was a novelty one-off. Never been a big fan of concept albums.

I don't think this year has been all that great for music. My two favourite albums are compos the Creation Records one Artifact and Rastafari from Soul jazz. Of new music I enjoyed the Courtney Barnett album, and Publuc Sevice Broadcasting, Sea of Brass by BSP, the Noel Gallagher offering, BC Camplight and Richard Hawley's latest but not a vintage year.

I forgot about The Decemberists' "What a Beautiful World, What a Terrible World" from the beginning of the year. Very good, but not quite in the same league as The King is Dead. Maybe that sums up 2015 quite nicely?

Oh, and for the album btw, I'll go for Wolf Alice and 'My Love Is Cool' :)
