They were going to win whatever happened. The run they're on and the standard of refereeing we've suffered this season, plus the fact they always turn up at Oakwell and shithouse their way to something, meant it was a non starter tonight. It's still been a bloody good season and could yet get better.
We do come across as very bitter. Take the refereeing decisions out of it and we still wouldn't have scored. Ipswich deserve to go up along with Plymouth as they've been the best two teams across the league season. Duff has a big job preparing our lot for the play offs. Also given that it seems objects have been thrown on the pitch we could have a reduced capacity / part closed stadium to contend with.
We should be bitter after refereeing this season. 6 goals been chalked off for offside what were legitimate. The goal we scored away at Portsmouth where ref pulled it up to give us a free kick. Burton Brayford handball. Goals today been dodgy. Countless penalties not given compared to ones we've conceded. I mean how often do we complain to FA? Saying that, I think its been a great season so far. Duff has done a wonderful job. What a bloke. coyr
Bang on, dropped many points this season with poor attacking play. Playoffs is a great achievement to be fair.
It's in the past, let it go. It's not just us btw, a lot of other teams will be saying well what if those decisions had gone our way. Circumstances and the way matches played out may not have gone in our favour which is what people are wrongly assuming. We are where we deserve to be and that's 4th in the table. I'm not denying that tonight is frustrating but we have the play offs to look forward to.
I'm not bitter, so I dont need to let anything go. Just giving justification as to why fans would be bitter. But at this rate if you aren't used to it, you must be mega optimistic or memory of a goldfish!
Not necessarily true though. Cole was close. That could easily have gone in. It just didn’t fall for us. It did vs Wednesday.
Will we ******, there were fans running on the pitch and fighting players at grounds last season and not one was punished with stadium closures. Why would he have a big job preparing "this lot" for the play offs??
Granted but on the flip side people looking back and moaning over historical decisions that have gone against us this season are wrongly assuming we would have gone on to win those games when circumstances could have played out otherwise. As I said in my next post, tonight is frustrating but we're 4th in the table and that's where we deserve to be. Play offs to look forward to.
I think we can both acknowledge that Ipswich are the best team in the division and deserve to go up, whilst at the same time being frustrated at the fact we've been treated unfairly on the whole by officials this season, including tonight. We've had a single penalty all season, countless ones not given, and some absolute joke decisions given against us. I'm happy to admit we've had some go our way too, including at Ipswich, but on the whole how can we not be bitter about being penalised more than other sides?
We're Barnsley FC, unfortunately we can't do what we want. Just based on what Gally said earlier this season that we were very close to a reduced capacity or ground closure given the issues that we've had. He will have a big job preparing our lot because when we go behind we can't seem to come back and win a game.
Absolutely no issue with the result. The better team won, fair and square. 36 points from the last 39 and only 2 goals conceded. That's just phenomenal. But I still expect the refs to do their jobs, and week in week out they don't. They shouldn't have scored the first, because it should have been a goal kick. And they should have had a man sent off. We may have still lost or failed to score, but those two things should have happened.
Nowhere near ground closure, what for? Objects on the pitch? I think Forest would have had their ground closed if the EFL did that type of punishment.
Can't disagree, well hopefully Bolton drop out of the top 6 and we play Peterborough in the semi finals!
Norwood and Cole didn't get much service today. Tedic should have scored the header late on but we lost to the better team. Just shame the ref gave them a big hand.
We didn't get the rub of the green, every bounce or ricochet seemed to drop in their favour. The referee was abysmal. But we lost the game because we were 2nd best, pretty much all over. They're by far the best side we've faced all season, but they ought to be with the money they've spent.
