how about any profits which look doubtful go to Neuro Unit, at Hope Hospital where Hume was treated, on his behalf. In fact bugger profits how do we set up a 'Reds Fans For Humey' collection for the Unit anyway? I am sure Iain & his family would appreciate the gesture
I meant chance of you making owt was doubtful! D'oh sorry nowt dodgy implied. Tho of course if you do happen to I'm sure you would be as generous as ever Wonder if MrX would like to start the contribution ball rolling?
Heh he. Sounds like a great campaign.
Now if only we had a medical type reds fan to fire everybody up.

Now where is that description of what happens in a sub dural haematoma? I have no idea what injury Hume had other than fractured skull but commonly fractured skulls cause the minute blood vessels in the dura to bleed very slowly. This leaves a collection between the layers of the meninges which exerts pressure on the brain causing the drowsiness Iain describes in the interview. The only way to stop this is surgery. A horseshoe shape flap of skin is opened on the scalp which must be larger than the fracture to allow the repair. The skull is then opened and the haematoma sucked out, leaking vessels are cauterised (believe me this stinks). The skull part is then replaced & carefully aligned to allow the fracture to heal & the scalp sutured. A long thin plastic pipe called a drain is inserted into the scalp around the area to drain any collections to prevent further pressure on the brain, this is removed a few days later. Whilst the brain itself has no nerve endings the meninges certainly do which is why meningitis is so painful. The method of removing a piece of bone from the skull to get at what is underneath is not something I want to post where kids can read. As I say the exact nature of Hume's injury hasnt been discussed but the above cant be far from it Oh & the only strong painkiller head injuries can have is pethadine & only in small doses cos the more powerful ones used for other post op pain relief cause drowsiness
Nope 25 years + in a wide variety of nursing roles Oh I forgot a personal interest as 19 years ago Mr Ali had a head injury & was in a coma for 9 days
Bad scar that though, it's probably been said but if one of us decided to lamp somebody after a few sherberts and they ended up like that surely it'd be classed as GBH?
Nurse not a lawyer by a dear friend of mine got 12 months for doing less damage. Lost his job, threatened his relationship & basically fecked up his life. Morgs will carry on earning his filthy lucre and do similar again & again & again
RE: Heh he. Sounds like a great campaign. I've got abart 8ft of plastic tubing in mi body an a watch mechanism implanted in mi 'ead if that counts for 'owt?
