I had to respect the way that both Deedars played yesterday and made me realise how far behind them we are.

Both got stuck in, both sweated blood and guts for the cause, and if I'd been a United fan I'd have respected the way my team had played, albeit be fecked off at losing.

I just wish we could see a performance from Barnsley tomorrow with some real guts, creating chances, high tempo etc.

I suspect the lack of work/passion is down to too many foreigners I'm afraid.

That has always been my main gripe against Davey. Far too many foreign players signed. They have no concept of the work ethic needed to compete in the English Championship.
Then lo and behold he now wants to sign another, whose apparently ill AND injured. Mind you we haven't got a Portuguese so it'll add to the list of nationalities we have.
FFS... the mind boggles, it really does.

    Difference is...

Nearly all those players are crap. I don't think our current players are rubbish, but they don't fight together as a team.

Players we have now are much better but they don't have the fight/work ethic.

Chatted with Ferenczi the other day on the old tinternet, he said the players 'don't work' this season, having watched the Palace game and spoken to players still here.

Nationality has little to do with it

We suffer because we don't create enough chances, don't take the ones we get and are prone to make too many schoolboy errors.

We have also suffered slightly from some dubious refereeing.

Yeah, and look at them dirty foreigners like Ronaldo, Tevez, Vidic, Torres, Essien, Cech, Drogba, Toure, Gallas and Adebayor. They don't know nothing about what it's like to play in England, wiv all its passion and its blood-and-guts and whatnot.

Bloody workshy gets. Send them home. Bah.

    Different kettle of fish

International class footballers playing for their international careers on a world stage in front of millions of people for famous clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man United.

Not the same as a journeyman player who's never pulled up any trees in the country they use to play in - El Haimour, Leon, Colace for example.

I seem to remember getting hammered by Washday the day before (i think!) Davey was given the job full time and I was absolutely stunned at the lack of passion from a team that was largely made up of local players. Even if they were **** players and a left back was playing in central midfield - the lack of passion that day from local lads - in a local derby - against the team we hate - was shocking. We didnt make a tackle in the entire match. The foreigners thing is an easy excuse and I think it's well off the mark.

    I agree 100%

I seem to remember Heckingbottom getting himself sent off in the first game at Hillsborough. The local lads hardly covered themselves in glory in the five local derbies against Doncaster in the ale house league, either.
