Does anyone know where I can buy a toasted sandwich maker that doesn't cut the sarnies in half, preferably one that makes 4 sarnies? Mine has finally given up the ghost and the only options today seem to be posh "sandwich presses" or ones that cut them in half, which is rubbish if you want to make some of the best ones like egg and cheese 'cos it just squirts out all over the place. I've googled it a bit and I've not found anything in the UK apart from people asking "where can I buy a toasted sandwich makers that doesn't cut the sarnies in half?" This is important stuff. Mrs Burgundy Red often leaves me to fare for myself for hours at a time and without a decent toasted sandwich maker I could actually starve. Please help. Anyone?
Look at this on eBay: Breville Stainless Steel Panini Press Sandwich Maker Machine Toaster VST025 New http://bit.ly/11zAs0l
Do you mean one that cuts it into quarters or one that makes 4 big sarnies at the same time? I think mine cuts them in half or at least tries to. Mine is very old and has bags of character, I liberated it from my Mam's house when I left home many years ago. I accept the challenge of sourcing your sandwich maker of choice.
I'm afraid that falls into the category of "posh sandwich presses". I'm after one that seals the edges (these presses don't) but to answer Mr C's question doesn't have a bit across the middle cutting the sarnie into halves or quarters so it leaves you with a whole sandwich. My old one made 4 such sarnies, i.e. 8 slices of bread for a proper lunch. A bit like this one only with twice as much sarnie-toasting capacity: I'm pleased to see people are appreciating how important this is. Thanks.
Is this the one you mean? This mutha doesn't cut them in half and makes two at once for extra peckish occasions. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/toasted-s...=UK_HGKitchen_SmallApp_RL&hash=item4ac1440748
Yes, like that. Only more so (4 sarnies not 2). But one of those would do at a pinch if I could source a new one.
Yes, I think we had both seen the same second hand one from Grimsby on ebay. Which is okay if you have a death wish.
This is from Ufesa who made my old one but it's in Portugal It's exactly what I'm after only I need it to not be in Portgual: http://figueiradafoz.olx.pt/sanduicheira-ufesa-modelo-sw7391-iid-433411014
Re: This is from Ufesa who made my old one but it's in Portugal Wow, that is like the Daddy of all toasted sandwich makers. I'm sure if you send them the same emotional distress call, they would post one to you?
Re: This is from Ufesa who made my old one but it's in Portugal €55 must only be 45 quid -ish.....e-mail em and offer to pay postage. Then all you need to worry about is the electric supply it works on and whether it will blow all the lights out in your house every time you get hungry and how much fun toasties by candlelight will be Had a rabbit once that loved picking our lasses and my toasted sarnies up and swapping them over.....until I whacked it with a shovel. It died of Mixing-me-toasties
Re: This is from Ufesa who made my old one but it's in Portugal Now you're beginning to see why I'm so distraught about the demise of my current one. The lines across the quarters are only cosmetic not deep so you can put your bread in and break a whole egg in each which you just can't do with the others. Add a bit of cheese around the edge too and it's fantastic. People say that these things are a gadget they buy and then only use for a week but mine's contributed frequently to my diet for a couple of decades or more now. I sent this make and model number to Mrs Burgundy Red and she's come up with a French supplier so maybe I'll just have to survive without one until the summer and get one then. Life's too short to settle for an uninspiring toasted sandwich maker.
Re: This is from Ufesa who made my old one but it's in Portugal I guess the appearance of that joke was inevitable.
Re: This is from Ufesa who made my old one but it's in Portugal Can't your old one be repaired? They are not exactly the most complex of electronic gadgets? Plus it must be like losing an old friend, then there's the replacement trauma to face and the inevitable guilt.
Re: This is from Ufesa who made my old one but it's in Portugal I had to be the one Its that antique joke book I've got
What about this http://www.ebuyer.com/351336-wallac...h3353x2?utm_source=google&utm_medium=products It only does 2 sarnies, but at seven quid you can buy two. Doesn't look like it cuts them in half.
Re: This is from Ufesa who made my old one but it's in Portugal Unfortunately not. I don't want to go into why it's no longer with us but there's no hope of recovery, I'm afraid.
Good find at the price - at that price it'd see me through to the summer when I can get one on the continent. And there's nothing to say you can't own several toasted sandwich makers - the more the merrier, clearly. Thanks guys.
