Tired of this constant tinkering with positions - the current manager is doing it, previous managers have done it. Surely we have enough players now so that it is not necessary to play some out of position. A glaring example is Golbourne who will never make a mid field player if he plays into his sixties. It is painful watching him when he gets the ball in an attacking position and he immediately checks inside or, even worse, goes backwards. He is not the only one doing this but he is a full back, so play him there. I'm not over keen on him in defence to be honest but his lack of guile and forward ability should never be exposed further up the field. Mellis and O'Brien are other examples - Mellis is no winger (we all know that). O'Brien is a trier and occasionally surprises us with some skillful running with the ball but he cannot cross a ball to save his life. None of the current squad can do that to be honest, especially at corner kicks. I'm excited by the current make up of the squad and, on paper, it is more than good enough for a mid-table position, or even higher. It's just a question of getting that magic formula in place, and that has to mean playing defenders in defence, midfielders in midfield and strikers in the opposition penalty box. Simple game, isn't it??
Agree 100%. That was the problem against Wigan. Mellis on one wing and Golbourne on the other. Meanwhile three actual wingers (O'Brien, Cywka & Jennings) were sat on the bench.
