They Sack Davey, probably conducted on the phone. Then things got from Bad to Worse.

Invite applications for the Managers position but fix up the first interview with Robins. To
all and sundrie it looks like he's considering the job or so the media says.

So what happened to the other applicants do the club tell em to get lost. Great can you
see a rush of applicants of quality next time we are in the mire, no thought not.

Whilst this is going on the media have got the information we have Paul Ince as a back up.
Where in the world has that come from.

The club should have kept quiet or issued a statement to the effect nothing has been decided
and any media reports are pure speculation.

Apart from a Left Back and a back up Goalkeeper the club needs a good PR person. (doh) (doh) (doh)

dunno what happened to the policy of the "we'll announce it when its final" lark.
went tits up with the andy gray saga, but we'll look bigger fools if robins turns us down.
i feel for the rovrem fans who dont know whats happening,
and a fair few of them will question his loyalty if he stays put with him even speaking to us now we made it public.
mind, rovrem could do with quite a few people on "gardening leave" with the complaints they had :D

Agree with our PR being ***** ... but:

Wasn't it Rotherham's Chairman who announce that they had granted permission for Barnsley to talk to Robins ???

The club can't do anything right in some people's eyes.

They Sack Davey, probably conducted on the phone. Then things got from Bad to Worse.

    - No they didnt. They did it face to face in a meeting after the Reading game.

Invite applications for the Managers position but fix up the first interview with Robins. To
all and sundrie it looks like he's considering the job or so the media says.

    - If we had waited until Friday to start interviewing people there'd be moans that we hadn't done it quick enough. What if Robins had applied and was the best applicant so far? I see nothing wrong in this.

So what happened to the other applicants do the club tell em to get lost. Great can you
see a rush of applicants of quality next time we are in the mire, no thought not.

    - Football is a game that allows little sympathy. If these 'quality' applicants want a job next time they'll still apply.

Whilst this is going on the media have got the information we have Paul Ince as a back up.
Where in the world has that come from.

    - Aye - Trust the Sun who have reported we've offered the job to Robins, Ince and Kidd all in the space of 3 days.

The club should have kept quiet or issued a statement to the effect nothing has been decided
and any media reports are pure speculation.

    - Erm..... there were moans yesterday that Rotherham had issued a statement on their website and we hadn't. BFC didn't release a statement - Rotherham did and it was reported by Radio Sheffield.

You can pick fault in everything, but I dont see that we've done anything wrong here.

Yes ... but that wouldn't suit the "Whingers Charter" approach ...

... of knocking the club come what may.

    pass?

who knows who said what 1st.
but i cant see rovrem advertising the fact they allowed their manager to "talk" to another club?
    we wouldn't....if it ever happened!
my bet is we secretly announced it to the press,
robins recently spoke of loyalty from his players, he should do the same.
but if he did come to us, id back him
not much loyalty in football these days

we have kept quiet haven't we?

wasn't it rotherham that reported to their fans?

Maybe we asked for permission expecting them to um and ar about it, they didn't so we are talking to him.

Personally i think we've conducted it spot on.

    Why?

Rotherham issued a statement on their website - we didnt.
Rotherham informed Radio Sheffield - we didnt.

So - from this information you;ve come to the conclusion we've secretly released it to the press - without a thing to go on.

Can't we just accept a form of events for what it is rather than trying to find something that isn't there to discredit the club?

RE: The club can't do anything right in some people's eyes.

So why should the club ask for applicants when they have no intention of interviewing them ?

Why not ask Rotherhams Chairman not to go public until we have spoken to Robins ?

You can't blame The Sun and other Newspapers for reporting the 'Ince second choice' story
it must have originated from somebody at the club.

So we are all clear now are we what the club are doing re a replacement Manager, are we ?

    What is your issue?

So why should the club ask for applicants when they have no intention of interviewing them ?

    - Mark Robins didn't apply then? Or did he apply immediately and was the best of the bunch so far?

Why not ask Rotherhams Chairman not to go public until we have spoken to Robins ?

    - We didn't? What Rotherham do in regards to press releases for their manager and fans is completely up to them, and BFC or any other club have no rights to dictate what they do.

You can't blame The Sun and other Newspapers for reporting the 'Ince second choice' story
it must have originated from somebody at the club.

    - Oh Aye - All newspaper reports from the sun are based on credible sources aren't they.

So we are all clear now are we what the club are doing re a replacement Manager, are we ?

    - I think its pretty obvious yeah.

Why specualte on things you have no information about in a weak shot at the club?

to which we've publicly made our intentions to robins on out tv channel

RE: If its 'Pretty Obvious' what the club are doing

We've asked for a list of applicants
We've identified Robins as a target - haven;t confirmed if he's the only target
We've asked for permissions to speak to him - granted
We've conducted a first interview, without offering a position
He's scheduled to speak to Patrick Cryne
He's been put on Gardening leave.

If thats not clear I dont know what is.

    Disagree ....

As the vacancy is public and interested parties may be shown around etc, how can it be reasonably kept quiet. This would just fuel the sort of rumours we have had anyway - everyone from Pallister to Curblishley allegedly being shown around. Unless you are Norwich and steal a manager so quickly the news does not leak out, this is bound to happen. I think it seems right to do it as it has been done. The club has observed correct etiquette in making the approach both to the Millers and to Robins. They have chosen to keep the media informed, which at least cuts down on the rumour mill. If the club know who they want, they have made it known. Seems to make sense to me.

It will only become a farce if a) Robins publically turns us down; or b) we get cold feet and choose not to appoint him. If, as I think might happen (depends on dotted 'i's and crossed 't's), Robins is named manager tomorrow, or Monday latest, I would think that the club would be pleased with the way it has conducted its business.

I hope there will be no hitches from this point on. Why would Ince want to quit MKD for the second time and after only a few weeks in post? I am not convinced that his management qualities are the ones which are right for this club at this time.

You clearly have no idea whatsoever what it's like on a paper like the Sun

Does the fact they've said we want Adams, Kidd and Ince within the last 4 days not give you some idea?

They haven't a fecking clue, no-one at the club's told them anything.

You've got to admit though, Journo - there is a link here with the Sun. Davey had his knockers.
