He hasn't been performing so no great loss to the team. Wish him well though.

Just not good enough against fast bowlers. Now chickens out after a rough ride in the Aussie Press.

Feel for him but isn't it the Captains and Managers job to know the mental state of your players before picking them

They did know about this and they said that he was managing it well.

The Current England team are all over things like this and will deal with it well.

He's served us well over the years, so good luck to him, it's the right decision.

    Who to replace him though?

    Ben Stokes anyone?

I would look at Stokes whitey but in the squad they've got Ballence, Bairstow or Stokes really. It's a problem because with Prior in bad form they need to make sure someone gets runs in there.

If it's going to be hot though it would be nice to have Stokes who along with root could pull 15 overs between them in the day. I'm not sure if he can bowl in England cricket speak dry (at about 2.5/3.0 runs a over)

Bairstow would be in of the two out and out batters i think.

Perhaps the 2 day match coming up will give us a clue?

I think they might rest a few Whitey. It's apparently too hot up there and i would think they'll play all those not in the squad at least and maybe one or two from Performance squad.

Gary Balance is a better option than Bairstow in my opinion, he would have a fearless attitude in the same way Pietersen did when he made his ashes debut

Time to give the team Ballance.

We're having to replace a non-Englishman (Trott) with perhaps another non-Englishman (Ballance, Stokes). :D
