I take it next time around the Aussies will be playing one of their home matches in New Zealand to match England playing one of theirs in Wales.

Disgraceful to give Wales one of the biggest test matches in ENGLISH cricket. Old Trafford or Trent Bridge should have got it so the north of England had two test matches.

    England and Wales Cricket Board

Still shouldn't have given them the first Ashes test, should have got one vs Bangladesh or something like Durham have had to do.

I don't care about the Wales part. It's England who's playing. Durham is a smart little ground but i'd not say it's good enough for an Ashes test match yet. It is a million times better than Headingley for parking though.

No because he plays for England which is my country. The Cardiff ground doesn't even look good. There's plenty more deserving.

What about them playing the Welsh national anthem ...

..... before the match, said on the radio this morning that they were doing this and it was to get the Welsh fans onside, thought at first it was a wind up but I don't think it is, shocking if that is true

The national anthem of Wales has no place at a match between England and Australia.

Agree, it might be the England and Wales Cricket Board ...

..... and the match is in Cardiff, but it's nonsense to play the Welsh National Anthem, there aren't any bloody welshman in the team for a start off!

I'm at work but did this really happen? Anybody see it?

It's not England who is playing

It is England and Wales! It's just that everyone has shortened it to England only.

It is why Scotland have their own team but Wales does not, beacuse they are part of England and Wales.

Get over it and enjoy the bloody cricket

    can a bloody welshman reply

There could have been a 'bloody' Welshman in the team as the Cricket Team is officially that of England AND Wales.

Yes, but there wasn't ..... and as it's the England and Wales ..

.... team, full of Englishmen, what's the point playing the Welsh national anthem? Bet there were loads of our team stood with their hands on their hearts blasting out the words.

And it's a joke that the game is being held in Cardiff, what a load of tosh that is

What's whether there's a welshman in the team or not got to do with anything?

If the England football team for a match contained only players from London then would it be reasonable to consider it a London team?

    Which seems fair to me.

Well, if you accept that it could have been either anthem ..

....... I would suggest that you play the one that has most relevance to the eleven players on the field. If the majority of the team were Welsh, it may just sway me to accept the decision to go with the welsh anthem.

At the end of the day, we all know that they have done it to court favour with the Welsh public - we shouldn't need to do that, they should be grateful they have got the test match in the first place.

The England/London analogy is a load of irrelevant nonesense by the way

Cause they played the game in Wales

I went to the NFL game at Wembley last year, and they played both the American and British anthem, despite there being no Brits in either team!

Why not play a test match in Cardiff, it's the England and Wales Cricket Board, Glamorgan play in the County Championship etc.
