Take a bow son... He has come to play very much like Waring last year. A real competitor, and good all round play. winning mentality clear to see. Interesting to see he held position and didn't go hunting for the ball or chase lost causes. But if he got a sniff he chased it down and battled. Three or for times he sprinted to sideline and battled to win ball he had no right to and then showed good strength and skill to get to byline to cross to danger area. Won a couple of corners. Very impressed! Just need to concentrate on bringing in a couple of central midfielders now, still missing that holding player.
A central midfielder req, get scowen back fit , fletcher signed till end of season and team looks better
A cracking goal on debut , and in hindsight he should have started . Looks a good player in the making
He made a 22 minute cameo in which he scored. My honest opinion of him was that when he was in possession, he looked fantastic. Not afraid to run at players, made a couple of decent balls into the box from tight angles. He wasn't afraid to get stuck in if play was nearby. My criticism of him comes when he wasn't in possession. There were a few instances when he watched the ball go over his head and made little effort to chase it. A couple of times he allowed the Fleetwood defender to play the ball out from the back, with no pressure. To be fair , that's the premier league way of playing today. It'll ensure that he doesn't get caught out. My first verdict of him was that we probably ought to have started him, or at least brought him on at half time as he has a bit of height and presence about him, that Winnall and Williams were lacking. We'll have to wait and see, but as debuts go, you can't argue with a player that scores a game saving goal. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Fletcher did very well. Remains to be seen if he can do it consistently though at his age. Lets hope he can. Another midfielder is critical to us, but we need signings for the next 2 years not more loans and short term fixes like Wabara. We also need a proper centre half because Long and Mawson are not going to get us up the table. But ultimately we need to start building for the next 2-3 years and finally drop this stupid short term transfer strategy which once again is biting us in the rear come Jan, and will do again in the summer when Hammill and White get offers elsewhere. It's got to end now. It doesnt work. And close the academy. Spend the money on the team and a scouting network. Signing Fletcher again shows that we intend to nurture the youngsters of other clubs in readiness for perm transfers higher up the leagues once we've served our purpose. Johnsons comments on signing Fletcher would suggest this folly is going to continue. We are no closer to fixing the problems at BFC than we were 6, 12, 18 months ago.
Looked impressive when he came on would have been nice to see him start but can understand why he didn't.
