Who else read the programme feature last saturday on our number 9s down the years? Interesting that Davies is only five goals behind what Ashley got in five less games, thus having very similar goals per game ratios for us. That despite Ward being supplied by Barnard/Hignett and Davies by the likes of Done. What a player Craig is and his record backs it.
The majority of Ashley Ward's goals were scored in the Premier league. Davies is good but not that good.
True. Records can be flipped any way someone wants them to be. Like what if Davies had players of Barnard/Hignett quality supplying him in a really good side and Ashley only had the likes of Done supplying him in a poor side. Two of our best strikers since the turn of the century. Shame we don't have a Ward to play next to Davies now.
'What a player Craig is and his record backs it'. Pity you don't heed your own advice. http://v2.barnsleyfc.org.uk/showthr...r-amp-McNulty&highlight=Craig+Davies+contract
He's not as good as Ward'y at controlling the ball though is he, I like Davies though. If he had the right service, I think he would be guaranteed 12 goals or more a season
Ashley Ward was our best player in Premier League just ahead of Redders. You forget how good he was, but then I saw a DVD of 98/99 season in Londoner in August and his composure was quality
As a footballer, i'm not a big fan of Craig Davies. His first touch is poor, despite his size, he rarely offers any arial threat and can sometimes be described as lazy. However he is an exceptional finisher, when he wants, his work rate cannot be faulted, and on his day, he's one of the leading strikers in this division. For me he's the first name on the team sheet, and I bet there's 20 clubs in this division all looking for a striker like Davies. We'd do well to hold onto him.
Craig is a good player and I think he will get better but I don't think he is as good as Ward was for us.
Ashley Ward was the better player. But that's not taking anything away from Craig Davies who has been superb for us. The most pleasing thing about Craig is that he's still improving. He listens to his manager, he works hard and he's a credit to the game. Great signing by Keith.
That's an interesting point of view. You start off not liking him then completely change your mind! I admire that. Oi Tyrone....
I have been reliably informed he signed a pre-contract a few months before he actually signed for us. Not fact. Not an anti-Hill post either.
