There's a warehouse in the Barnsley District called ASOS..........its a few miles from where I live.
It sells and distributes cloths throughout Britain..........(if in doubt ask your lass about it, she will probably have heard of the company)

The ASOS warehouse is on the old Houghton Main Colliery Site.
Barnsley Councillors worked their ballocks off to make sure this company got established in the Barnsley area - a sort of compensation to rescue the district from the loss of jobs in the mining industry.
It was supposed to be an industry brought into the area to employ the young people of Barnsley.

But whats happened..........ASOS is a none union minimum wage employer.........the conditions in the warehouse are said to be atrocious.
If you don't like the work then you can leave..........there are thousands of Eastern Europeans that are willing to do that job.
Why? - because minimum wages to the Eastern Europeans is worth a lot of money in the country that they come from.

So what we have now is houses in the area with 10 or more Eastern Europeans crammed into them while they work at ASOS on minimum wages.

Its so good at keeping the working people down........that David Cameron paid a visit to the company this year.

Barnsley Councillors were right to fight for ASOS to come to this area.........but ASOS should be primarily employing our local youngsters
And don't say that they wouldn't want the job - because if there was nothing else for them to do other than sit on their ar.se at home then they would in my opinion have to take the job.

We should look after our own youngsters first..........if there is other work, then and only then should jobs be given to people from outside of Britain.
This is what UKIP is saying.

As it happens..........the ex-manager of Houghton Main Colliery (Tony Griffin) has got a letter in the Chronicle this week voicing his concerns about immigrants wandering about in the town.

You do know that UKIP want to remove the minimum wage dont you ? They say it is stifling the UK growth ! If people are paid less it makes them work harder and the profits are increased , so the bosses get bigger hand outs !
Yeah , I can see why the low paid people of Britain should vote UKIP !

UKIP don't support unions. And they would be more than happy to let ASOS pay ANYONE as little as possible.

Blame the employer who makes increased profits on the back of low wages, not the workers no matter where they are from. If you think the ex-banker Thatcherite Farage would do anything about this you are sadly mistaken.

As I posted in the other thread, Farage and his ilk were quite happy with the sell off of Britain's National Industries, now mainly in foreign hands, which they will do nothing about, and yet the call themselves the UK Independence Party.

Blame the company then and stop being so narrow minded.

Maybe Barnsley people are lazy and prefer life on benefits.

Funny, because I know plenty of tarn lads and lasses who work there.

If you'd used my place, which is in Bradford but still, then fair enough. I often feel like I'm the foreigner at work. Dunt bother me, like. But aye, there's lots of Eastern Europeans doing jobs the locals won't.

UKIP don't believe in minimum wages ???
UKIP have announced that they will scrap taxes for people on minimum wages...........which in my opinion is an excellent policy

Did you really work in mines nudge cos if you did you'd know there were hundreds of eastern Europeans worked there from the forties onwards and were salt of the earth just like the locals were

I knew someone would come out with that rubbish..........'there's lots of Eastern Europeans doing jobs the locals won't'

That's why I said this in the initial post................And don't say that they wouldn't want the job - because if there was nothing else for them to do other than sit on their ar.se at home then they would in my opinion have to take the job.

I'm of an age where you went to work because if you didn't you got...........NOWT
Those days need to return and the country would be far far better off for it
I'm all for giving to those that cannot provide for themselves.............in fact they should be getting much more than what they are now
But 'handout' Britain has got to stop

UKIP won't give more help to those that can't help themselves. They will go deeper than the Tories in transferring it to charities
