Very good stat to be so near the top when he didn't play the first five or so weeks of the season and because of no pre season won't have been fully fit that long. This is the kinda stat that worries me a big bid will come this month....
Even more impressive. Chaplin made a big point of drawing attention to Browny when he scored on Saturday.
Brown cant be 3rd according to some on here he isnt championship ready and cant cross or beat a man Actually being serious thats quite amazing considering he missed some games at the start of the season and also played in several positions like Left Back which isnt ideal for creating chances. I bet since he has been playing up front with Chapin he has the most assists in the league Edit just seen the post above and he does have the most assists in the last 11 games
I think young Jacob is developing into a fine footballer. He's now showing his true capabilities in the Championship, just like he did last season in Division 1. I hope he can continue with his progress, especially if that's with us.
More goals would be great but his role is not a classic old school centre forward, it's more working the channel, pressing high and pulling defenders out of position so others eg Chaplin, Mowatt and Woodrow can run into the space.
Me too mate I’m baffled by some comments (I accept they are in their minority) about him that he isn’t up to it. he’s still only 21 isn’t he! he works his knackers off, loves the club and is a cracking player to boot. Can’t get my head round it. Ok he’s a little raw but he has come on so much over the last few years and will continue to improve I think
Love that. Chaplin scored and put all the attention on Jacob with all the pointing he was doing in his direction to tell everyone it's all down to him. Also him quoting the club tweet and putting love heart eye emojis in there. Not since Hourihane and Winnall have we had one player do so much good for a team mate.
Others can say what they like. It certainly won't affect my opinion of him. I rate Jacob very highly and believe if he continues his progress he'll have a fine career in the game.
Why does he? What’s the difference between him scoring himself or setting up someone else for an easy tap in (à la Mowatt on Saturday) It’s comments like this that leads to greedy players.
Me and our kid were talking about Brown and the season he's having at the game on Saturday. Neither of us can understand some of the criticism he's had this season.
He has good games and some not so good games. On Saturday he was very good. Sometimes his passing is substandard. His workrate is never in doubt. He's worth his place in the team
Favourite player. What impressed me most on Saturday was the number of times he chased down opposition defenders and blocked their clearances. With his ********, his face, whatever. A striker might manage half a dozen blocks in a season. Jacob did that in the second half. He's fast, athletic, gutsy, and not without skill. The number of goals he's created speaks for itself. He plays like you want players representing your club to play: with passion, courage and tenacity, eyeballs out, 100%. Please don't fc*king sell him.
Its comments like these that that leads to greedy players? You serious? So, if he reads this he will all of a sudden become greedy? He is playing as a striker yes? weigh in with goals so that if the rest of the team are not scoring then there could be a chance he does. I rate Browny very highly and think we`ve a diamond in him but, my opinion, as a stfiker playing every week he needs to score a bit more often.
He doesn't seem to me to play quite as a striker. He's more likely to be out a bit wider and laying it on for someone else. Hence his assists and less strikes.
I meant more the mentality of “he should be scoring more” when he is the 3rd highest assist maker in the league leads to players wanting goals, not assists, which leads to greedy players. What difference does it make whether he gets a goal or an assist? The way I see it, he could have been greedy on Saturday and scored both of those goals himself. That would have given him more goals, but less assists. I guess this would be more acceptable to you? The end result is the same. 2 goals for the team. Not to mention the fact that he’s not playing as a traditional striker.
There’s a guy who sits behind me that’s constantly slagging Brown and I don’t get it. He’s come a really long way has Browny. I remember seeing him when he first got into the team last season and wasn’t sure on him. Then he started to perform excellently and score some huge goals for us. This season I thought he started off sluggish but, because of his injury, I cut him some slack. Now he’s getting better and better. His partnership with Chaplin is key for us at the minute, they compliment each other superbly. I know it’s daft to be a Barnsley fan and get attached to a player but I hope Browny stays here for years.
