Have to agree

why the sudden media swing in favour of the family ? Now its the police that are corrupt, the dogs are at fault, they've thrown us off the scent. not a chance that justice will be done.

you get the impression that it will become one of those cases where no one will ever know for sure what happened.

heh, well maybe the money he might earn from writing a book about 'how, in theory, he would have killed his wife' might pay up for him. /poo

Its already turning into an arse covering exercise

the McCanns, unable to speak to the public, get Trevor McDonald to do it for them. Meanwhile, the Portugese police are themselves being investigated.

I hope the little girl rests in peace. Just that.

    Why not?

What about Ben Needham? Was he murdered by the family?

    There's 2 sides bickering

over who's at fault, who's trying to find the truth? ITV? Shambles.

    RE: Why not?

It is thought in some quarters that Ben Needham was taken by the locals because his family was not taking too much care of him. They thought that they would give him a better life.

    Nightmare

Loving family, worked hard to get where they have. Professionals - both in an occupation that we, the public trust, and go to for help.

They go on holiday with their kids and make a wrong decision. Ill judged I grant you, I have never felt they should be excused for that. They aren't habitual child neglecters, but, in the generally safe feelings of the surroundings they make a decision that it's ok to leave the kids while they go for a meal fairly close by.

That decision has plunged them into the worst nightmare that can befall anybody. On top of losing a daughter, the agony of which can never go away until they at least know what happened, they have been criticised and villified beyond belief by people who, quite frankly seem to be enjoying shooting down those who have reached the top of the professional pile, as though it's an accepted sport to pick such people off and bring them down to size.

We all make mistakes, we all make judgements that are wrong in hindsight, could be potentially devastating and sometimes we are lucky to get away with. Unlike the McCanns we thankfully don't have to live with them forever. The worst thing possible, after suffering something like that must be to be caught up in a subsequent investigation which points the finger at you as a murderer, using the diary entries of an overworked mum as a possible motive.

The whole progression of the McCann case sickens me. Itseems quite evident that the Portuguese police, who are now under investigation themselves following the outcome of a similar case, have given up the search for the poor girl while they concentrate on getting the McCanns to crack.

May the poor kid rest in peace wherever she is, and I truly hope that if and when the truth outs in the course of time, some people will have the good grace to go and hang their heads in shame.

No, but they made a habit of leaving their children whilst they went to eat and get pissed

    Jolly well said that man.

Amazing also that the usual arseholes who regularly cook up increasingly bizarre theories to support their assertions that British law and order is riddled with corruption are the first to sneer at any suggestion that the Portuguese officers responsible for conducting this total fiasco of an investigation, at least one of whom is under investigation for beating a confession out of a mother in a similar position, might be anything other than honest and upstanding.

    RE: "Got pissed"

Not personally, but have spoken to people who were in the same area and saw the group of friends out every night.

They did not deserve their daughter to go missing (?) far from it, but to this holier than thou attitude that is portrayed about them is in my opinion, ********. They, being professional people at the top of the pile, knowingly left three small children ALONE in a foreign country. Not only did they do it once, they did it ALL WEEK. They are sure as hell suffering for it now, but this has been passed off as normal. Anyone who says this kind of thing is normal, is, in my opinion, quite simply wrong.

Let's turn it into a British vs Johnny Foreigner issue eh?

I'd be amazed if there was NOT corruption inside the Portugeuse Police force.

That's always assuming they didn't have anything to do with it. I've no idea if they did or didn't.

    They've got a life sentence

of regret and knowing looks. also, a difficult one to explain to their other children as they grow up, who were potentially at risk of abduction themselves.
