34 points on the board, as productive on the road as at oakwell, and now on a run of 4 wins from 5. What a difference from our last stay in this league when we almost always seemed to be stretched and looking over our shoulders. I'm now reading how we've not been at our best but won, as if we should be a bit disappointed! It's now like we accept we won't win every game, but we can almost guarantee we will give a good account of ourselves and make the other team work for their result - and play some bloody nice football whilst doing so. This really is a special time to be a red. I've seen every game up to now, and health and wealth permitting, I'll be going to all the remainder too. I don't want to miss a minute of this season - it's just too good to not to! Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
I think we are 14 points off second place and 14 points off third bottom. that probably sums up neatly that we are capable in this league but also if standards slip we will get beat. It's been one hell of a year all told however and one none of us should ever forget or take for granted Isn't it great going to a match with a buzz of expectation, anticipation and knowledge that we have a team and staff who are all giving 100%. You reds!
We've got so much energy and fitness, especially in the middle 4. Kent gets a bit of stick for his final ball, but he pulls the opposition about all over the place, and is also working back to help his full back. His chase and tackle today we're top notch, scowen and Morsy both tireless in giving hourihane licence to roam. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Out of curiosity, what was our points tally and position the year Hill had the rug pulled under him by the Butterfield/Vaz/Drinkwater losses?
I dunno, but we were doing ok at that stage. One of the rare good times we've had at this level since 2006, along with the cup run and flickers great run to keep us up. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
By 31st of December (so judge after Brum game) Played: 24 Won: 9 Drawn: 6 Lost: 9 33 points 35 scored 36 conceded 5 clean sheets
whats odds we have to go to the champions elect again on the ast day of the season to get a result to get in the playoffs. I'd take that now i reckon. I think our season rests on what happens in january to be honest. lets see where we are in feb after the transfer window.
This season so far, for the record Played: 23 Won: 10 Drawn: 4 Lost: 9 34 points 40 scored 35 conceded 8 clean sheets
its a good yardstick isnt it to judge whats happened so far. 23 games played and thats exactly half way into the season. i think we're doing ace to be honest. i really thought we'd be where a team like Burton are now actually, that means just a point or two above the drop zone and dreading the second half of the season. absolute credit must goto hecky and co for what they have done. not only in this season so far, but in the whole year of 2016.
We are having a wonderful season, it's a great time to be a reds fan, in fact close to perfect. Long may it continue.
We were talking about this after we got promoted. We joked that all the good work of last season would be forgotten and some of our fans would probably want hecky sacking once we started losing some games. When we were struggling in the last relegation season, I said maybe it was time we went down and regrouped. A mate said we might be down there for a long time, but it's worked really well - and some! We came back relatively quickly, having spent peanuts and are an absolute joy to watch. Would just be nice to see more fans get on board now and really help cement our place at this level. I thought he was excellent yesterday, their fullback looked nervous whenever Kent got the ball. That chase back and tackle was magnificent, it got the biggest round of applause of the day (goals excepted).
