Athersley last night

First of all, well done to Athersley for putting on a decent occasion. It's so important for clubs to get it right when the big team from the area are in town and they seemed to do it right. In turn I try and spend a bit of money in the ground along with my ticket I got a drink, program and a Burger.

Secondly, How bigs Matt Murray. Flipping monster of a man. Love to see him and John Vaughan stand toether. Also anyone know the deal with MM. Permanent coach?

I thought the team play okay. Josh Kay, Hedges and the striker were stand out for Barnsley.

Athersley Rec player, have some class about you. Okay you got beat but some of the abuse to the officals wasn't needed and the coaching staff said zilch at the time. The left back calling the Lino a fecking cheat you checking cheat can't you see that you fecking cheat. This wasn't once it was everytime Athersley didn't get a call. Athersley fan said it was close but on that was in line.

 

Who were the trialists?

 

They announced the names but didn't remember them 30 seconds.

Think a couple of them were french.

 

At least that will cheer Young Nudger Up

Cheers for that. Matt Murray I believe has joined the academy coaching staff on a permanent basis. A fellow poster and good mate of mine met him a few weeks ago and was told he'd signed up. My son's best mate scored for Athersley Rec last night, apparently his first touch.

 

One of them did score. It was the other end from me to see properly. He wasn't the one giving abuse, that was mainly the left back.

The centre mid that came on was a unit too. Also on trial. Josh Kay though needs to step up for me. Might be worth him going out on loan somewhere if possible.

 

Yes I think six months at a league two/national league club will man him up a bit.

I also went to the game and enjoyed it. I didnt hear much abuse towards the ref. I did think he leant towards the reds as well.

The young no9 for barnsley was good. He should have had 4 goals though. He missed 3 easy chances.

It was a good game to watch. The left winger for barnsley who got yellow carded for diving... looked good on the ball bit what was he doing there.
