well done to los Colchoneros! Considering the financial difference between the big two (Barca and Real) and the rest of La Liga, this is a fantastic achievement. Simeone has a great squad with a wonderful work ethic, and that is what has got them through Hopefully, they can complete the set and beat Real on Saturday.
Apologise for this, but with us being relegated, and The Arabs losing today, its a bright spot in a poor season. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/iMZCUxNOklM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> .
Well deserved victory. Typical Barcelona tippy tappy football dominating posession but waiting until the 81st minute for their second shot on target. Messi was anonymous too.
The unfortunate thing is that the team will be broken up now, the best players and the manager will be off and they won't be able to do it next season, back to the Real Madrid/ Barcelona hedgmony.
Possibly they will lose Diego Costa, but I can see the rest stopping, including Simeone. He is a hero at Atleti, and I believe he will stop and try and create a real rival to Real and Barca.
Possibly for another season but can't see him there long-term when he can get more money elsewhere, look at Mourinho after Porto won the European Cup, he was off.
But if they win the Champions League ( and I agree it is a big "if") then I believe he will want to build something at Atleti. And if they do win, they may be able to negotiate their own TV rights as per Barca and Real. It isn't right, but if its the only way they can compete, then I can't criticise them for taking it.
Another great performance by them, I thought it was not gonna be their day with the double injuries early on. Now for the double.
Its a real (no pun intended) achievement for them, its fantastic to see the usual suspects being beaten to top spot. Fingers crossed for the European cup.
Every summer they usually lose a star man to cover their debts and they still carry on doing well. They will be contenders again next season. It's Barca who should be breaking up their team. Puyol retiring, Neymar not upto La Liga standard, defence poor...
