Having been someone who regularly sits in the East Stand upper at Oakwell on Saturday i took up the option of sitting with my brothers friends in the Ponty end.
What a difference. People on their feet and singing n clapping the reds home without fear of standing out like a sore thumb and told to "siddarn".
Loved it.Will be back in there again shortly.

Best place to sit mate, although the view from East Upper is cracking.

Oakwell must be one of the only grounds which has only one stand where home fans sing.

The Ponty is and always has been the only place to sit/stand at Oakwell. Imagine how great it would be if they brought back standing like they have in Germany. Fantastic.

I grew up on the West Stand but we all moved to the Ponty when it was re-built, been in there since. Nice and central, near the back, wouldn't change it. I think you get a better view of the game in the East Upper but the whole day out is more enjoyable in the Ponty, can stand and sing if you want to.

I've sat or stood in all three stands since I started watching the reds and the Ponty End is the best. Been in there since 95 now.

Always stood in't brewery stand moving from one end t tother at half time. Ponty was always the place for the atmosphere. That was untill alan clarke came to't well then brewery gave;t ponty a run for its money.moved into ponty whilst eaststand was being built and apart from the period when ponty was being rebuilt stayed there. when i went back to (brewery) eaststand was glad to get back in't ponty. Miss the views of the eaststand though but ponty's the place to be.

You must have missed the East Stand seasons or have you just forgotten them? Pretty sure you were there.

I think we were only there a season or two, I was still in the Army so I missed a few but was based near Blackpool from 95 so it was pretty easy getting when I could. I think we moved in to the Ponty the season we got promoted. Happy days.

I've never been told to shut up for singing or shouting in East Upper. Only time I've heard people told to shut up is if they were making racist or abusive remarks.
I did once get some strange looks though - it was the Norwich game when we were relegated, and I wasn't sat in my usual seat because I'd taken my now ex-partner and her lad to the game. I was just shouting and getting exasperated and a couple of guys in front of me just kept looking round....they didn't look too fussed by the outcome whilst I was slumped in my seat for 10 mins at the end.
