Great turn out but the atmosphere was terrible TBH I know the stadium been empty doesn't help but we were very subdued Amazing what A few pints down people's neck on Saturday does Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Having "a few pints down your neck" isn't always a good thing at a football match. Nothing wrong with making some noise, singing etc but plenty let the beer turn them into non-stop critics. A little crew came and occupied half the row that I was on and the one next to me (standing all the time) never stopped criticising and complaining. He started in the first five minutes. Luckily he disappeared after about half an hour and didn't come back. He wasn't the only one - there was plenty of shouted abuse from that upper corner in the first half (right hand side as you look at the pitch). I complain as much as the next man, given reasonable grounds, but shouting abuse at players constantly doesn't help does it? Could be the beer, could just be their lack of intelligence. Mixture of the two I think.
Would agree. One bloke was clearly bladdered. With some kind of blue rain coat on. Barely made sense. Unless he had a mental issue in which case I apologise. Most were alright around there, and to be honest it was fair criticism for most part. Long spells of the game were shocking.
the point i was trying to make was the fact that due to it been a night match and not many people had been drinking so the atmosphere was poor. I the match would have been on a Saturday it would be totally different. I get your point regarding the critics but i never comment on this as i believe if you pay your money you deserve to give your opinion (critically not abusive) But all in all fantastic game and really enjoyed it - the coventry fans i met and spoke with at the top of that hill we great and i felt so sorry for them Because i wouldnt drive to chesterfield every home game
I pay to watch a football match.... All this I deserve to give my opinion is ****** really I don't want to hear some pissed up idiot shout and swear for the best part of 2 hours... Just because he thinks he has right to air his opinion Get behind the team by all means but christ some folk don't half like to have a go at our own players sometimes
When we fill an away end and at least a good majority sit in reserved seats, we often get a flat atmosphere. It's only to be expected because like-minded fans who tend to congregate together get split up, with only pockets of supporters getting songs going. That's why I prefer unreserved away seating, or a stand big enough for it not to matter. At Crewe (and most games last season), you got those who have had a few and want to stand and sing congregating at the back or at the side, with the rest of the stand full of those who prefer to sit and watch the game. It works. When everyone is mixed together, you'll get drunk fans next to kids, elderly fans behind youngsters trying to make some noise, and inevitably it leads to either tension or a flat atmosphere. Vale Park will be different cos it's a huge away end where everyone can find the right place for them.
