is it just me who thought it was flat, maybe the game and the conditions didn't help, but that was the worst display from the fan all season!
Been flat majority of the season. Thank god for the young lads in top corner of ponty otherwise they would be nothing . Away games it's a different story Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've said it before and I'll say it again. The depressing, run down, couldn't give a **** aooearence of the club combined with the absolutely awful match day management of the half hour run up to the game sets the tone for the match and atmosphere
And yet if we look at Crystal Palace (again), the Holmesdale End is absolutely fantastic - generates an atmosphere like no other - and all that 'done' by the fans. If the fans really wanted that kind of involvement and impact on home games, then surely it would happen naturally. My son had asked if we could sit "in that bit where the fans sing" for the weekend, so I duly booked seats in the middle of it all and I have to say it was great fun. Yes, like most other folk, I laugh missen silly at the 14year-old chumps with their scarves up posturing by the station after games, but they make a decent racket in the ground. Not a feckin' clue what they're singing, but my lad enjoyed it. If everyone else in the Ponty joined in, it might just make a difference.
Best atmosphere I've ever known is Oakwell, and the Ponty End specifically, during our year in the Premier League. White hot, every game. Fact is, we're now midtable division three, no club's fans all go mental in such circumstances. It's nowt to do with what the club do or don't do to entertain us before kick off or at half time, we're just not that up for it because, at the moment, there's nowt to go barmy for. We watch the football and have a chat with our mates. Should Danny get us up near the top of the league, which I'm confident he'll do given the required time, the results will really matter again and we'll all be singing and shouting. Having said that, some of the away games have produced brilliant atmospheres. Rochdale and Sheff Utd are obvious ones to refer to, but we won those, so you expect a good backing. At Chesterfield we didn't play all that well and lost, but the fans were so loud for the entire game. Great support. When Danny gets us winning again on a regular basis the fans will respond with loud support. I think the majority realise it's a work in progress at the moment, so we're just watching that develop.
Maybe as I'm in the 'top corner' but was good effort by us all round there on Saturday. Much flatter previous two home games
They're not struggling in the third divison after several years of struggle. We got close to getting a good atmosphere back during the 'great escape' season but it all went flat again the following year. We can get the Ponty very loud and intimidating but we need to improve on the pitch to do it.
That is a bit presumptuous to say the least! Don't you mean IF? I sincerely hope we do start winning again on a regular basis, and it may well be with Wilson, but there's no guarantees it will be under his tenure. And before the Pro Wilson brigade wade in, I just want us to win irrelevant of who is in charge.
I think the atmospheres so flat simply because of the league and league position we currently find ourselves in. The fixtures we have just aren't rousing at all. Every home game are games we should win. Because of that as fans we're hoping to get on the front and I think that anxiety leads to the flat atmosphere. As well as the bigger away followings in the Championship we were also fighting for our lives. We were underdogs in most games so a big tackle or a break forward would create some positivity. That doesnt tend to happen in games which you expect to win.
