I travel to the home games from Lincoln and on Saturdays I don't have time for lunch in Linc before setting off. So I wait till I park up near the ground and buy summat from the Oakwell takeaway shop at the bottom of Grove St. OK, it may not be fantastic stuff, but I can get a decent slab of meat pie, a pork pie, or similar, for about 70p a throw. They do hot food, chips, sarnies etc at good prices as well. THERE IS NO WAY, repeat NO WAY, I WILL EVER BUY FOOD OR DRINK IN THE GROUND !!!!!! It is a complete and utter rip-off and is NOTHING special. I can buy crisps/choccies/drinkies etc outside at a fraction of those extortionate prices, so NOBODY will ever convince me that it's for the good of the club to buy inside rather than outside. Anybody listening? Anybody bothered? No thought not.
Cut and paste that and send it to the club if you haven't already, the more folk that do, maybe they'll take some notice?
What you are battling against here is probably The fact that in the East Stand uppper anyway, all the pies get sold, whatever the price they are. You plan ahead. Profit is made from those that don't and just fancy a pie. Lets face it how many punters are in your situation and how much extra profit would be generated if the prices were lowered. There are two fifteen minute periods where 90% of the produce is sold. Just before kick off and half time. The costs of employing staff for four hours ish to cover these two sales periods must be covered. There are already enough customers to sell all the pies at the higher prices. There isn't enough counter or time to sell more pies, so realisticly the economics mean prices will remain high, and quality low. Bring sandwiches mate if you want to save money.
RE: What you are battling against here is probably The cynical side of me says you are right....BUT THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT RIGHT !!!! Any place where there is a captive audience can charge a premium, for example pick and mix at the cinema, wine at most resturants, but BFC are taking the piss. Over £2.50 for a grissle and kidney pie, come on that is treating us with contempt !!!!!!(furious) (furious) (furious) (furious) (furious)
I don't mind the price of the pie- it just tastes like crap Like someone on here mentioned the other day, some non-league grounds serve decent food and real chips (i.e. not 5 frozen cardboard fries for £1.20 like we do). I would pay a fair price for decent food and it really wouldn't be that hard to cater for. Surely there must be a Barnsley-based Ian Beale who could knock up something worth paying for? Business opportunity- only I can't cook pies. Anyone know Gordon Ramsey's number? Oakwell Kitchen nightmares- I can see it now.
Is the catering run by the club? If it is you have a chance, and I will add my voice to any protest, as I too feel prices could be lower, or at least quality better. If they are not I think you would be pissing in the wind.
No, it's "run" (into the ground) by Lindley Catering whoever they are
But we have a "contracts expert" on the board who you would think would be able to do summat to get them out based on the number of complaints the club continually gets

The Oakwell sandwich shop is excellent - that is why everyone goes there for their pies, peas, burgers and hot dogs - including the 'away' fans! As a Veggie, they will make me up a nice sarni, but I still have to work on them to get some veggiburgers in for us veggies.... I stopped buying stuff in the ground eons ago, it is overpriced for exceptionally poor quality. Pie and peas with mint sauce at the Oakwell sandwich shop is only £1.40 for a massive portion. As someone mentioned below, they do short change you quite often and you have to check your money at the counter very carefully before moving away. The drinks are often lukewarm and there is nowt worse than soup made with lukewarm water ugh!. Last night I took some hot Asparagus soup in a flask and me and Wayne tucked in for less than 50p As for the drink prices, down at Wetherspoons you can have a pint of a choice of real ales for £1.30 pint and similar prices at the Courthouse - perhaps a bit more but still very reasonable. The catering at Oakwell is shocking and if they are not careful, they will be in danger of cutting off their own noses to spite their faces. Mr Shepherd does care and I suggest that he looks into it asap.
It might NOT be Lindley Catering..I can't find them locally anyone know WHO it is?
Perhaps we can complain to them and say ballacks to shepherd

RE: It might NOT be Lindley Catering..I can't find them locally Run by Peter Coates, ex Stoke City chairman
Ahh, tellingly.. given my theory about Shepherd and co only being bothered about the exec facilities..Lindley do not do the exec facilities catering

Shock Horror.. football fans getting ripped off in more places than one
Now that does surprise me!!

Their mission statement... RE: Let me guess... it was £19.65 per shift, which lasted 4/5 hours. So it was a pretty ***** wage. Just realised I'm not signed in, ballax.
