i think its been a great season after all bookies were makin us certain favs to go down after 1st game well done to all concerned
There was a short period during the season when all the Davey doubters were out in force Other than McCarthy and Windy the rest of um seem to be hiding (hidebehindsofa)
I've never hid Davey is not developing as a manager as quickly as you would expect, 18 months in charge and very little improvement from him in terms of league position, tactics, ability to change games when losing, motivational skills, man management, player selection etc
I have the feeling he will come of age next season Having learned from his mistakes. I am still of the opinion he is a little bit 'aloof' from his players. They don't seem to have much physical contact in the celebrating as some of the good managers do. Notice how the Man United players react to Ferguson and he is a strict manager. All part of the learning curve though, could come good. (Y) (Y)
Davey is not the man He will only stagnate the club and continue to keep the fans in the dark with no explanations for his tactics and player selections. I have been in front of the man at a number of press breifings and the reason why ALL journalists in the area from papers to Radio do not get on with the man is down to his seige mentality, hopefully now Shepherd has gone Cryne will instigate more openess.
I don't care how he behaves to jounalists, I care how he manages my football team, I don't want a media darling, I want a competent manager.... is he that ? well I'll reserve judgement until the end of next season at least, then he'll have had two full seasons with his players. So far it's touch and go IMO good cup run disguising a shocking second half of the season. Some good signings but only Macken up front again IMO.

Strange that we have this post.....and near it we have a post saying Bobby Robson rates Simon Davey I'll go with Bobby Robson (nodding2fingers)
success... so sucess is defined as avoiding relegation on the penultimate match of the season for the second year running. also the siege mentality with the local press and the self confessed bunker menatality over marketing does not sound succesful to me...
So who the f*ck is then? Do you think its right to constantly criticise without suggesting what you would do? or who you would appoint? Its 10 times easier to be critical than constructive.
Why swear? Just because I dont agree with someone, does not mean I should be swore at. As to who should be the man, we need someone that can be seen as pro-active , one that can watch the match as it unfolds and makes changes as necessary, not one that if plan A dont work, throw another striker on and hope and pray something happens.
Stagnate? What have we done since about 2003 onwards - different managers ,garbage players
At least we have a bit of stability and a Championship status. We have something that we can build on
