Where would you rather we signed players from? Because assuming we can't afford anyone with championship experience I would take league one experience over our influx of Austrian players.

Becoming apparent that L1 is probably better quality than the Austrian premier or whatever it’s called...

In fact I’d be happier this week if we brought in a couple of L2 players rather than more from the Austrian league.

We aren't prepared to pay what it'll take to get the best players out of league one i'm afraid.

    Vaulks cost 2 million
    Ajayi cost 1.5 million
    Matt Clarke cost 3.5 million
    Jamal Lowe cost 2.5 million
    Marquis cost 1.5 million
    Bayliss cost 2 million
Ivan Toney looking to cost over 5 million
    Gavin Whyte cost 2 million

All decent players but all cost a premium because they've got experience in the English leagues, and until our owners realise you can't just buy lads from abroad and that'll count as sufficient experience, we'll continue to try and be smarter than other clubs in the division. And we will fail in trying to doing so.

If we bought the current Mawson, Scowen, Hourihane, Winnall and Pinnock from the top end of L2 we'd be far better off than with Ludewig, Ritzmaier, Sollbauer, Radlinger and Bahre - no contest.

I know you are right because that's exactly what we do and it shows.
We could afford some of these players though with the money we have spent. We go for quantity over quality.

We could have loaned an experienced cb until end of season....a bit like huddersfield have.....just to see us safe.

I'd love to spend the entire winter season in Austria.

If Struber thinks these are the answer then we have to back that and hope to goodness he's right. I dont think looking to league 2 is the answer either, at this point in the season. We re reaping what we sowed by our decision making before the season even started.

Yep an experienced cb, midfielder and striker...... 'barnsley make triple loan swoop' would have been a nice headline to see in the first week of January.

It's exactly that mate you're correct, you can either do targeted buys which involve spending a certain amount of money on less players but you're getting a better known quality or you can spend the same amount of money on the scatter-gun approach and just try sweep up any potential you see because in the end it'll only take 2 or 3 of them signed to turn good for us to make a profit.

Meanwhile on the football side of things we're stuck with a load of young lads with nobody to learn off apart from each other. Practice makes permanent and if you've got two lads making the same errors and not having anyone with both experience and ability to learn off then eventually it'll become engrained into their system and into the bin they go.

It also makes it harder for the coaching staff, Strubers already said he wants to reduce the size of the squad so his staff can have a more focused approach to training rather than having to cater to 10 more players who aren't in the matchday squads.

But basically you're right, i'd rather us spend 2 million on one quality defender than spend 1 million each on two defenders who i feel weren't scouted thoroughly.

We won’t buy championship players. Looks like days are gone when we’re poaching beat league 1 players too. Every other club would buy players for the league they are in knowing it’s pricey but it’s part an parcel of football these days. I’m all for bringing players in from abroad but they need players around them to help them establish but we will continue to recruit unknown Austrians and sign players from like Connahs quay

There must be a way of spending little but building a team capable of competing. The likes of Preston and Millwall are no better off money or crowds wise than us, yet they're way ahead of us in terms of having a solid championship side.

It all boils down to recruitment, the owners obviously want to make money so it seems weird that they wouldnt pay abit more to ensure they have the best possible recruitment team. The only failure so far is recruitment.

Don’t see them raiding Austria for league 1 (or worse) standard players for starters. We have massively lowered the player quality bar and are poorly gambling away our league status, possibly setting us back as a team for years to come.
