One of the keys for my car has failed. Tried changing the battery to no avail. Anyone know what a replacement costs and what it involves? It’s a flip remote key.

Check if you have key cover on your insurance. If the answer is yes call them and ask if a key replacement claim will effect your no claim discount.

Been quoted £100 by a mobile locksmith.
That’s not a problem as such. I just want to make sure it’s the way to go. I have no idea what to expect in terms of what they do.
No point in putting it through insurance as it’s cheaper than the excess.

£100 is about going rate as long as it does not need to be programmed to the car ignition(some do and some don’t).

Flipping remote key heck!! I have realised that this post does not really help your situation and, as you are admin on this site, I will take my punishment for my flippant attitude.

Mazda wanted over £300 to replace my fob so I just used it manually. Tried changing the battery again with a higher quality one after getting fed up and it started working.

If you have key cover on your policy you don't pay an excess.
