I see we've sold over 8,000 season tickets.
Add a few hundred pay on the days = 8,500. Add a few hundred away fans = 8,900.

Can't see us breaking five figures except against Sunderland/Bradford etc.

    Just my estimate like.

    You Reds!

Yes if we are challenging for the playoffs or even title we will get 10000 home fans but if we play like we did last time we went down the OP will be right and we will only break 10000 if there are a good number of away fans

If we're struggling or treading water in mid table then, yes, high 8000s. If we're motoring I the top few places then around 10,000 I reckon. That's usually about the mark.

I'd like to think that if we got off to a winning start we'd see some decent crowds, but our fan base is our fan base and the crowd swell only seems to come when there is a real smell of blood.

Season we got promoted to the prem, I didn't have a season ticket and my mate surprised me by getting my tickets for the last half a dozen home games. He knew we were onto something as soon as we signed super John and didn't want me to miss out when everyone jumped on the bandwagon, and they did.

Frustrates me that just a few thousand of the masses can't commit to more games. We love to hate Wednesday and Leeds, and it would appear that crowds are all they've got, but at least they've got something.

Yeah but Leeds and Wednesday both still have around 10000 empty seats at home most Saturday afternoons. Its only when they are doing well or when they have a big derby or cup game that their bandwagonners jump on, same as us.

But the fact remains they get bigger gates and they like to be part of bigger crowds. Our lot look for excuses not to attend and the slightest adversity has them skint or working Saturdays.

Bfc have no divine right for people to attend the match , its up to the club to make sure its a better option to attend the game .than miss it

    Have to disagree there .
We have one of the best attendances if put up like for like population . On average citizen per fan we are well in front of the sheffield and Leeds club in fact we can hold our own against most clubs.
8,000 st holders for a club our size in lgd one is i Imagine quiete enviable imo.
Places like Thurnscoe and Goldthorpe have only recently come under the bmbc banner so we are not doing bad on those areas tbh

I'm not disputing all that. It's something that's been done to death to be honest.

Doesn't alter my opinion though. I'd just like a few more fans to stay with us rather then wait for the glory games.

It's not all about size of population and catchment area. It's about attitude as well. we can magic up 20 odd thousand for Wembley twice in a season but they all disappear back into the woodwork.

Yes. Playing at Wembley with a promising young side supplemented by some real quality Premier League loan players and led by one of the best and brightest young managers we've ever had, versus watching the inadequate replacements for those good players, managed by unknowns in a lower standard of league in a cold and draughty stadium. I can't think why they only turn out for the former! [Sent from the woodwork!]

That’s been going on with all clubs since football started .
I don’t see anything different happening with the Reds as what happens at Everton, Leeds, Watford. Salford city or anywhere . But be critical of one of the best supported clubs in the EFl is misplaced imo and doesn’t give credit to our fans

I spoke to Michael Spinks at Christmas of the promotion season and asked him if many fans had season tickets. He replied we had sold less than 2,700 at start of the season, but hoped for some sales over the New Year. We just topped 3,000.

Well maybe it's time someone bucked the trend then, either the club getting them in with cheap tickets ala Huddersfield and Bradford, or people find it within themselves to give something by the way of support rather than just soaking it up when we're doing well.

I'm not being critical of the club or the regular fans btw. I'd just like to see some of the Wembley brigade show their faces a bit more often for the bread and butter stuff.

Yeah, my mate has had one since around 1980. Used to have it bought for his birthday as a kid.

Most didn't bother with them until the prem when we pretty much filled the home sections.

He bought his then wife one but she never saw a single game. We had an Arsenal, Wednesday and Everton fan in that seat as well as several neutrals that season.

Imo cheap tickets doesn’t always work unless one offs in certain games,
The only thing I believe to increase interest is winning successful football which even that doesn’t always work av ording to xerxes post above .
Most fans on this forum and others will most likely follow Reds whatever league but others certainly will not so only thing is is to build it and they will come as the saying goes

Worked well at Huddersfield and Bradford averaged towards 20k last season.

We won't know if we just keep saying it won't work and not trying anything.

To be honest, I thought the new guys would have done something radical for this season. If ever there was a time we could afford to take a bit of a gamble it's surely now?
