I heard an interesting stat at the media night on Tuesday. If you've taken advantage of an Oakwell 1912 membership to buy your home tickets this season the average ticket price is £18.89!
Using the East Upper as an example, the saving per game is only £3, so it really isn't that much more expensive than for season ticket holders. I might not have got at Season Ticket had I known that, because theres often games that you miss because of holidays etc. You also have more flexibility if you want to sit in another stand. Fortunately I think they'll see sense and scrap all this next season, and make the pricing much more transparent and simple to understand. No more categories please!
But it's not been that price every match has it ? Why not factor in 1912 membership and make every home pay on the day ticket £20 ?
Re: But it's not been that price every match has it ? That would be too simple to do. To scrap catergories, scrap the 1912 membership, and make every game no matter who we play or where you sit 20 quid for an adult ticket.
Re: But it's not been that price every match has it ? But by doing this we lose thousands of pounds only charging Leeds £20, this game and others should be higher - the 1912 card gives OUR fans a chance to get in for cheaper. People are just lazy and like to moan without actually thinking things through and just have a go at the scheme instead of doing the right and cheaper thing....buy a 1912 card!
Re: But it's not been that price every match has it ? We are Barnsley fans who go to watch Barnsley. Who our opposition is shouldn't matter. Or how about 20 quid to sit everywhere but Ponte where it costs 30, then we can still charge Leeds that.
Re: But it's not been that price every match has it ? There seems more interest is sqeezing a few more quid out of the away fans than there is to sustain a home crowd. The Catigory system doesn't work. If it did the club wouldn't be reducing prices for games which were previously Cat A.
Its the lazy implementation having to buy tickets in advance or arriving an hour before kick off that have also made it a terrible scheme. That with making 16 games Cat A ridiculous!
That is very good value, and shows the club have done something to make it affordable. BUT they really need to simplify the scheme, and most importantly, make it easier to get tickets with the 1912 club.
i think its a good idea. only way to improve it would be to let people order online withit if you cant already.
Re: But it's not been that price every match has it ? Far too simple, its a lot better spending money on the man hours that these schemes take, than say, using that time on gaining added sponsorship for the club and promoting it in a positive light. Just been a complete waste of money and resources and 1912 who on earth was paid wages to come up with that name.
Does this Category system work? Not including away fans: Leeds United - 11,771 Category A Blackpool - 10,148 Category A Southampton - 9,584 Category B Doncaster Rovers - 9,458 Category B Crystal Palace - 9,296 Category C Watford - 9,186 Category C Coventry City - 8,820 Category B Ipswich Town - 8,761 Category C Leicester City - 8,756 Category A Burnley - 8,727 Category B Middlesbrough - 8,721 Category B Bristol City - 8,546 Category A Hull City - 8,430 Category A It looks like it's worked for the 'bigger' fixtures - Boxing Day game and the derby against Leeds i.e. getting more people in paying higher rates but apart from those two there isn't really much difference.
Wuppee do. So the club are telling the fans something in January that was not made clear last Summer. And changed categories during the season therefore confusing the paying public even more. Why should it matter who we play or what a club charges us when the reds are away? One set pay on the gate price that is affordable. Or is that too much to ask?
The problem is, one lower price DOESN'T = a consistant bigger home support, so the club have to make the money from the away fans. Our fans are only coming back for bigger games, Leeds etc, until people start coming back more often, the club have to look for ways to make as much money as possible. Season passes are fantastic value, people could put away just £6.07 a week over a year or 26.33 a month and be able to afford one in the ponty! No matter who you are, that's not to hard to save.
Re: But it's not been that price every match has it ? But sadly it does with some fans, it seems to matter quite a lot, more seemingly than watching the club they purport to follow. Sad but frustratingly true.
