AVG antivirus free

to be discontinued Jan 2007.  Gutted.  What good alternatives are there?</p>

I got an AVG pop up this morning saying free version to be discontinued and told to upgrade to pukka version but it could have been marketing

I downloaded a new free AVG version 2 days ago.

7.5 I think it is. I initially got the message that it was to be discontinued & clicked the 28 day reminder box. After that I got the prompt to download the new version. my advice would be to hang fire if you've only just received the initial message about it expiring in january.

I had the same pop up saying that the version was to be discontinued. There is another Free version available (Im running it at the moment). You can download it here http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5

 

Isn't that the same version AVG free 7.5?

Just a different download site?  I dunno, I'll hang fire and see what happens.

Yep, 7.5 will still be free

Yep- I got that pop-up last month. A mate of mine told me mine was out of date, so upgraded to new free version.
Works a treat.

 

You can still upgrade for free - there should be an option to allow you to do it
