Just watching the playoff final, and just before half time when Colgan saves Robinsons volley on the line, Hassell is booked for pushing Knight over in the box, but it isn't a free kick or penalty? How do the rules work on that? Surely coz Colgan saved the shot the balls still in play, so pushing Knight over is just like pushing someone over before a corner?
The Ref had already given a foul for the challenge on Colgan So as the ball was already dead it wasnt a foul by Hassel but still an offence to push their player over
Well that explains that one then First time I've watched it sober so after a month I'm finally taking things in. Did Marc Richards actually play in this game? (only joking, not having a moan, etc. etc.)
And Gary Birtles' comment after Tate missed "You always wonder if missing a chance like that will come back to haunt you" Ohhhhhhh, it definately did!!!!!
RE: It should have been a penalty Knight should have been booked for stamping on Colgan. Oh well....ei ei ei oh, up the football league we go!
No it shouldn't There was a foul on Colgan first. Once the ball is dead for the foul you cant give a penalty for a subsequent offence
I seem to remember When we played Portsmouth a few years back Lynvoy Primus got sent off for the same thing - ball dead and he kicked off in the penalty area. Penalty - we equalise.
