I like the idea of a sin bin. They have to make it like ice hockey though, so they have to sit in a Perspex cage in the middle of the opposition fans. ;)

Tell you what I'd like to see from Rugby

... I was watching a bit of Rugby Union last weekend after the match. The way the refs explain all their decisions as they are going along is brilliant. Fed directly into a microphone, so you can hear it. Even if you don't agree with the decision, you can immediately understand what the ref has given, and why. For me it would just cut out all the back chat and nonsense. Rugby Union is miles ahead of football in terms of officiating in my opinion.

I think retrospective bookings should be introduced for players who cheat; diving, shirt pulling, falling like they've been pole-axed, intimidating referees etc - it'll not happen though.

the other thing too Fi is the fact that

players are not allowed to go to the ref crowd him or intimidate him...its just the offending player/s and their respective captains... can you imagine some of our boorish yobs getting their heads around that.. Rooney, Barton etc etc. Also they are not allowed to curse and swear at the Ref and they have to address him as SIR. I do not think Rooney understands that word , I think he thinks its one of Alex Fergusons Christian names.

And in the last sentences lies the problem in footie.

Football players show no respect to the officials. If you had a soccer ref on mic all you would here is expletives from the players.
Not very good for encouraging young kids to the game is it.
