  1. Dismal performance from just about everybody tonight. Travelled down from Gloucester with two other Reds and we all agreed that we couldn't think of a single player who had put in any kind of a perforamance. To be honest it was a pretty sterile game for all but the fifteen minutes leading up to half time. There had not been one shot on goal by either side when suddenly their "Barry Conlon" - Brooker - carved a great big hole down the middle and caught Colgan hopelessly out of position. We were sat right behind the goal and the keeper should have probably moved out to meet the onrushing forward, but then again Brooker might have chipped him. The penalty looked a bit dubious on first look, but Mr Clattenburg seemed to be taken in by a theatrical dive (he actually had a good game). The third goal was another "open sesame" defence moment and that was it - game over and not even half time.
Up to the first goal the crowd were quiet and we had the proverbial nothing to beat on show. The home fans were probably thinking the same though. Barnsley really did look clueless in all elements of their play.
The second half was tedious throughout, apart from a couple of good efforts from Nardiello. He, at least, looked keen to score (and capable) - a rasping drive just past the top corner and a peach of a curling shot, that was not high enough, were two of his efforts on goal.
I can't comment on the last ten mins as I was at the mercy of my two companions who decided that enough was enough and wanted to leave early. That seemed like a good idea and we got clear of the traffic easily but then spoiled it by stopping for a drink on the edge of the city. After a game like that the only place I want to be his HOME! I'm feeling sorry now for the couple of hundred or so who will still be thrashing up the motorway, miserable probably.
It was a poor game between two poor teams. Brian Howard made his debut but made no impact. Marc Richards had a run out but was also ineffective. They all were, to be honest. Trust us though to meet a team with a new, Barry Fry-like, manager. They are on a roll now and will quickly establish themselves in the top six. Yes, this division IS that bad!
Surrreal sight of the night? Paul Reid playing in a shirt with no number and no name - did they fall off early on? Quite bizarre! He should have been booked for that. Mr Rennie would have sent him off no doubt.

Well done for putting out a report. I couldn't be bothered! Must say I agree with everything you say though. Oh, and by leaving 10 mins early you missed nothing - except the traffic.

  3. Hate leaving early though!

Not driving tonight though, so had no choice. I'm glad we did though cos I know how difficult it is getting away from that ring road car park. What a dismal game though - why do we bother? The players didn't, did they?
