Back to the old format?

    So it's seems that this incarnation of the BBs is too much for most. Do we think tidying up the old version and moving it to a new server a good plan?

    Or throw some cash at trying to get this working in the same way? (if possible)

    It still doesn't change the fact that none of you are funny anymore ;)

    i actually like this... as with BFC the ones that moan are louder than the ones who dont....

    I like it most ways but I do miss the hybrid/threaded modes if the old one

    Doesn't really bother me that much. I did prefer the other board but am happy to stay here. If it brings some life back to the board then it may be a good move.

    The Problem is "The Green Bits"

    I used to love the green bits. They went green when you clicked them. That meant you could see at a glance which posts you had read, and you could soon colour your screen green by clicking on posts. Even those with NT (NT, not HT) which meant there was nothing to read anyway even if you clicked them.

    Yes, bring back the green bits. That's the crux of the problem.

    i think people have stopped posting because of some of the abuse by the key board warriors on here ,whats the point of coming on if you cant have a laugh with your fellow fans .The atmosphers changed i,m afraid.

    I prefer the old format. But seeing as I'm a miserable, old git, my opinion doesn't count for much.:)

    I much prefer this version, but maybe it's because I CAN see which threads I have read already and which I haven't - I the title of the thread turns green (from red) when I have read it. So maybe we just need to work out why it does that for some people and not for others. I believe it would be a step backwards to revert to V1.

    As has been said though, we could do with some people "lightening up" a bit and taking jokes, not getting too serious etc. And even though I'm not in the slightest bit interested (as a female) in The Friday Girl feature, someone needs to teach BigLil how to do it again, as at least it lightened the mood!

    Massive step backwards in terms of actually understanding the point of IT and its progression to improve. The old site is terrible compared to this. Please don't do it.

    Let's face it. The old format was good because it was so simple. It was a good match to the abilities of posters. I'd personally welcome it back!!!

    As for all the other tripe about the "quality" of posts getting worse....just nostalgic nonsense. Typical stuff pedalled by old fogeys.

    I'm used to this now and I dont think that moving back will change anything re: getting people posting again. My vote is to stay with what we have now. I think that eventually this BBS will pick up and get a little busier. It wouldn't be accurate to think that the old BBS was constantly busy and full of banter because the likes of Dirk, W.indy, Adam H, et al all stopped posting long before the old BBS ended.

    I agree (honest, I do) but you're the first person who I know who has said that posts clicked on turn green. Mine don't. I've tried everything, all the various viewing modes, on different PCs, Windows XP, Vista, 7, unleaded, diesel, biofuel, LPG, lager, keg, real ale, red, white, rose, blended, single, steak, pork, lamb, breast, leg, AC, DC, single phase, 3 phase, leg side, off side, fast, slow, medium, extra large, large, medium, small, ladies small, black, white, mild, medium, hot, female (not male), fast, slow, dull, boring, repetitive etc etc etc.

    The bloody posts still don't go green.

    Apart from that this site is much better, much more up to date.
