One thing I've noticed since getting out and driving a bit more since lockdown lifting is the sheer amount of terrible drivers on the roads. Speeding, overtaking dangerously and tailgating seems to have increased as though they have been doing it during lockdown because of the lack of cars on the road and are now just carrying it on. Who am I kidding though, these same drivers were doing it before lockdown and will continue to be like this.
something I've noticed - if you pull over or 'flash!' for the oncoming vehicle to come forward the bigger the vehicle the less likely you are to get an acknowledging wave.
When I drop the Mrs off at Morrison's, I wait in the car park for her, it's the most entertaining half an hour that I have all week.
I caught the bus into town last Tuesday and the Bus Driver wouldn't stop at the Railway station. He told me the bus hadn't stopped at the Railway station for 3 years. I told him that was news to me as it had stopped there everyday since I'd lived in Rotherham. I told him I'd be late for work walking back from the Interchange and would miss my train to Doncaster. He shrugged his shoulders. As I was getting off I asked him if he was on the bus the next day and called him a ******. I accept that I was wrong calling him a ******. I tried to fathom whether I'd done owt wrong to him in a past life and couldn't work out what he gained by not stopping early in the morning with just me and a couple of other people on the bus. Anyway. I caught the bus home yesterday and there were road works at the end of my street. I asked the driver if he could drop me before the stop. He replied no and made me wait the 100 yards until my stop. Guess what...it was the same driver. I reckon he's got it in for me.
We have laws, traffic rules and police because, if not, some people have a tendency to do whatever they want. Unfortunately, we no longer have an effective police force so there is no-one to enforce the rules/laws. So some people just do whatever they want.
Stephen. I see where you are coming from but a driver has to pick up and set down passengers at designated stops. If he was to let a passenger off just anywhere and that passenger fell and broke his leg I doubt insurance would not pay out and driver would be in breach of designated duties and might lose his job. It’s annoying at times but stops are there for a reason.
Every other driver bar him has stopped at the bus stop at the Railway station when I've rang the bell before. I appreciate he was doing his job when I requested an early stop last night but can't see what he had to gain last Tuesday. Every other driver stops there.
You called someone doing their job a ****** because you were wrong and wanted them to make an exception just for you? I’m not surprised he made you wait the whole 100 yards before dropping you off at the place he’s supposed to drop you off at the next time he saw you.
I don't drive so use the bus a lot - if you're talking about Barnsley, I believe ALL buses stop at the at the station stop on Schwabisch Gmund Way. Talking about driving, has anyone noticed cars are getting bigger for no apparent reason - so much so that people are almost driving vans.
People who don't indicate right at a roundabout ( when they have to) or indicating when exiting, and people who don't read the rode, I.e stopping at a giveway, when you can see when approaching that its clear for iternity to the right
There seems to be more and more of those huge station wagon type things on the road. Ideal if you're a builder but why buy one of those just to pick the kids up from school or go to the supermarket.
people who leave 4-5 vehicle lengths between them and the car in front in queues, those that really slow down going through traffic lights, and ******* who dont indicate
Many, many years ago (late 80s) I was waiting at the bus stop outside the old sixth form when the bus came up Huddersfield Road. I stuck my hand out and he barely slowed until he was almost level - so I flagged him. This prompted him to slow down sharply just so he could refuse to let me on for flagging him for not slowing down...
Those that go down the right hand lane for Castleford on Southgate Pontefract to overtake other cars then want letting back into the left hand lane to go toward Wakefield. Those that let them back in are worse.
