Kyle Walker looks like missing out on the world cup due to injury.

Stones is an ideal replacement imo.

Good news for me as I do to rate him at all.

Don't think Stones will take Walker's spot as Stones has been playing centre back for Everton.

Most likely a battle between Flanagan & Clyne. I'd say Flanagan deserves it on what I've seen

I think it probably does help Stones' chances. The versatility of being able to play in two positions should help his cause. I suppose Flanagan can also play at left back but we're spoilt for choice in that position anyway. Smalling can play at both centre back and right back and he seems to be a shoo-in so there's already cover.

I think Stones' performances centrally will interest Hodgson more though. I think we're as weak as I've known us at centre back this time round. If Jagielka and Cahill are the best we can muster then if Stones' doesn't make it this time I think it's only a matter of time.

I hope Stones gets his chance and not because we may benefit financially but because I would love to see one of our own playing at the highest level.

Do you think Roy would take three very inexperienced defenders to the world cup though?

    Flanagan
    Shaw
    Stones

Along with Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines n Jones.

i bet stones could play in any position on the field and do it better than some of the muppets we had last season.

I personally wouldn't take Shaw. I still think Cole is significantly better.

In the cases of Stones & Flanagan I think they're better than Smalling & Walker already

Stones won't go as a right back. The odd occasion he's played there for Everton, he's had his worst performances.
