Because its got nasty nasty sugar in it and if you drink 20ltrs a day you may eventually get fat.

On the bright side though you can still buy your 100 pack of king size Benson and hedges.

    ******* madness

How is it the "nanny state" when it's a private company run for shareholders that have made the decision?

i may have read it wrongly but i think it said they have removed ribena and capri sun from the "childrens drinks" aisle. now i never knew there was such a thing and it also implies they could be selling it it the next aisle along?

1: The nanny state doesn't have to the government making decisions we're perfectly qualified to make ourselves.

2: I suspect they have made this decision because it is trendy to blame other people (drink and food manufacturers for example) for the obesity crisis in the country so they are stealing a march before the government do intervene.

Ribena, Capri Sun and Rubicon lunch box sized sugary drinks have been removed. Tesco's argument is that they are aimed at children and so they have not removed sugary drinks that are targeted at everyone (E.g. Coca-Cola). I think you can still buy the sugar free versions of Ribena etc.

On a selfish, personal note, I only ever drink sugar free drinks (mam is diabetic so that's all we ever had in the house and I see no point switching to sugary now, which tastes worse to me) so I'm delighted that shops are beginning to stock more variety of sugar free drinks. I'm also pleased for my mam who was pig stick of always having to drink cola (if she fancied some pop) and nothing else. That doesn't mean that I begrudge sugary drinks being sold as well of course.

Alternatively there's an over-abundance of stupid parents who are killing their kids and since we can't introduce breeding licences this is the next best thing.

Doesn't cola have sugar in it then?

I've started drinking the green coca cola. Low calorie apparently. Tis nice. I don't normally like the 'diet' versions of drinks, think they taste funny.

Got to agree and that's why I normally avoid the diet option drinks.
