Typical modern day midfielder. Can't tackle, no pace, can't beat a man, doesn't create chances and doesn't score. Utterly pointless.

Can someone explain what he brings to the team without using the words "tidy" or "simple".

He slows down play when needed, can find a pass, better than any midfielder we've had in the last couple of seasons.

When do we need to slow play down?

I've yet to see any examples of good passing. I bet you rated Perkins.

Nope, just as bad as every midfielder last season. what do you expect from a player what isn't an attacking midfielder? Seriously don't get people on this forum at times.

So he's not attacking and he's not defensive. As I said, typical modern midfielder.

Thats unfair conan. He wasnt even playing today so why the criticism? I know what youre going to say and yes I also heard his name announced in tbe starting 11 but I think this was an error because I dont recall ever seeing him kick a ball today

Not even the pass to their centre forward for the 3rd goal?

Finally the white smoke has been released from the Moanastry.

We now have Moanman's victim of petty abuse for the new season.

I'll defend Bailey who had a poor game yesterday coming back after injury. Before that he was one of our top 2-3 performers playing in a role just in front of the back 4, breaking play up, stretch passes and linking up to move (not hoof) the ball forward. Since then Abbot, Digby and Crainie have all played that position. All during a phase we saw our decline. Berry got stick from some but the Berry, Bailey, Houriane mid performed better. So even when he returns we still play Crainie in that position, so what's that all about? 5 defenders and 3 strikers yesterday and we wonder where Bailey and Houriane were in all this. The question shouldn't be what does Bailey contribute, but should be what is our best team, starting line up and formation? Unfortunately I'm not sure the management know.

    Handbrake!
(presumably because our frenetic style of attacking football tires the lads out)

Midfield (excluding Hourihane) have been a Hughes let down...

A fat Brian Howard, injury prone Bobby Hassell could have done a job!
Bailey & Digger need to step it up and claim central role alongside Hourahane...

I have said for some time, Craine ain't all that. Not a bad player but not as good as some make him out to be. As captain he needs to lead by example, and from what I have seen he's not... In fact be tempted to drop him. Make Hourihane captain, bring back Ramage and midfielder general on loan e.g. David Norris Leeds utd. Both would bring experience and leadership.

3 CM yesterday and they still waltzed through us. Something not right there. Don't think we've got a single player who can put their foot in or occupy the right space that a DM does. Hassell needs to be brought back, and I always thought Norris would have been a good signing for us this summer.

After conceding in the 82nd min and just before they scored in the 83rd straight from our kick off. Did you go?

In defence of Cranie, none of their goals were his fault. He wasn't even on the pitch for two of them - taken off due to injury.

I also think it's worth noting that he's still getting used to the role he has in midfield. Hasn't played there for well over a season and he needs time, just as any player would.

Rather than giving arguably our best defender time to adapt to playing in midfield we could always play him in defence and stick one of the myriad of midfielders that we have at the club in midfield.
