    Striker set for £750,000 switch

    Sunderland expect to seal the return of striker Kevin Phillips from Aston Villa by next week.
    New boss Niall Quinn's initial approach for his former strike partner was rejected last week, but Villa insiders claim that Phillips will be allowed to leave for £750,000 once a new manager is appointed at Villa Park.

    Phillips cost Villa £1million from Southampton last summer but featured in just 26 games due to injury.
    The former England international joined Sunderland for £325,000 from Watford in the summer of 1997 and scored 130 goals in 233 games for the Black Cats.
