According to the new Coventry manager Tony Mowbray. Ironic he should say that after what he did to us at Wembley in 2000. I know we have been scoring a lot more from set pieces than usual but I didn't know we were top of that particular league.
By my own count, we've scored SIXTEEN of our 44 goals from free-kicks and corners. I'd be surprised if we weren't top.
It makes a change to be excited when we get a set piece because in recent years we've been terrible at them. But with Hourihane, the class shows and he regularly puts a good ball in. George Smith also put some good corners in the other week. And didn't Scowen get an assist from a free kick recently? Options.
As disappointing as Hourihane's form has been of late, he's almost worth his place simply due to his quality from set pieces. We constantly look a threat from corners and this doesn't seem to have been the case for years previous. There's so little between the teams in our league that small margins make a huge difference.
I watched Newcastle v Man Utd last night and noticed how poor the set pieces were in comparison to ours. Strange that top pros can't put a decent corner in. Obviously this has nothing to do with Hourihane and everything to do with Nyatanga learning how to head a ball. He's got nowt on Diego Leon after all
