There are lots of Wednesday fans based in Penistone, Hoyland, Wombwell, Birdwell but how do this lot feel about the the arrogance of their fellow fans and what do they think of the constant incest jibes? Some of the replies in this thread are hilarious - "I live in Elsecar if that counts" Course it bloody counts, its in Barnsley where you pay your council tax. https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/topic/321054-cmon-then-whos-going-from-tarn/#comments
Took as long as reply number 3 for an incest jibe from the city known for it. It doesn't usually take them so long. They are losing their touch.
I know it's accepted these days but I couldn't imagine not supporting my local team. Obviously, there's kids whos mams and dads are fans of X club and they follow in their footsteps, but I can't believe how many families are split down the middle. Watching videos of fans who support prem clubs, one of them the mam & dad supported spurs, their 3 kids supported arsenal. Seems alien to me! I think the rise of social media, youtube, massive fan channels are having an impact. Oh, well. I'll always proudly say I support Barnsley.
I like how they say they’re sneaking out early on. I guarantee you they won’t be flying their flags whilst on Barnsley soil. Bottleless gets.
Even split round Elsecar/Hoyland my arse. might have been 50+yrs ago. In their heyday. Certainly not now. Busses to wembley from that area possibly around 4/5 to 1 in our favour. Tbh I know a couple of the organisers well.(Queens) Grew up and worked with em. Club been going apparently since the 40s. So still got a loyal group. And there is respect from both sets of fans. Banter yes. But doesn't get out of hand.
They don't have much going on upstairs. "I'm from Birdwell/Wath/Darfield, if that counts". Of course it counts as Barnsley you Fritzl sh*t
I was born within earshot of the Oakwell roar, grew up within 5 minutes' walk of the bus station and have never considered the places you mention to be in Barnsley. There have always been Wednesday fans there.
Some of the comments on that thread are absolutely laughable and sum up their arrogance. Living well within the Barnsley district in places like Darfield but talking as if it's a stones throw away from Hillsborough
Is it ****. Its one of the most die hard tarn areas. I'm not from there but know plenty of people from the matches. Cudworth Lundwood Monk bretton Hard-core barnsley for me and I live in Elsecar
One of your Gxo drivers from the taarn told me hes a Sheffdy Wendy fan this season. And I thought ohh no how could you, how dare you!!.
