Barnsley Football Club were on the brink of signing a 23 year old sweeper, whose impressive resume includes Hilsborough and Ellend Road. Mr Shepherd promised optimistically that the new addition would keep the East Stand free of litter and other match day debris, as well as making himself useful cleaning the toilets. Unfortunately the signing floundered at the eleventh hour when a bid from Cardiff was accepted by the utility man. Mr Ridsdale stated that he had been following the target for some time and was happy to break the bank if he needed to in order to get the signature. "The fact that Barnsley showed an interest was good enough for me" he said prior to spending someone elses money.
