Barnsley-born Adil Rashid breaks into the England setup - bit ironic now I suppose

Discussion in 'Bulletin Board ARCHIVE' started by Gloucester_Red, Jun 8, 2009.

  1. Very good cricketer, for Yorkshire and now for England. Just happens to have a family history most definitely NOT of Yorkshire. Wonder how he feels about these latest political developments? Will he get some extra abuse in bigoted circles because he is from Barnsley but not quite the whiter shade of pale? Same goes for the likes of Monty Panesar I suppose.
    Strange times....

You've got 'em mixed up mate.

The kid from Barnsley isn't Adil Rashid - that's Azeem Rafiq.

  6. Sorry, you are all right - I mixed them up!

Point I was trying to make is still valid though. They might have "Yorkshire roots" going back several generations, and speak with a Yorkshire accent, but if this country goes the BNP route they will not count as Anglo Saxons will they? Doesn't matter how well they do for this country.
I know that the UK would never go in such an extremist direction though..........would it (chinny)

The BNP will never gain power, it's a protest vote and no more.......

we are a country that should always accept immigrants but on our terms, its not hard to implement, if you want freedom, offer skills that are needed, understand that we are not all the same, tolerant of those differences and don't wear brown socks with sandals then welcome friend, if none of the above apply to you, then, ferk right off.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, sport is by far and away the greatest asset we have to help build relationships between all races.
