Barnsley boss Simon Davey faces the sack

Barnsley boss Simon Davey is facing the sack if his side lose to Sheffield Wednesday at Oakwell.

The Championship strugglers are running out of patience with Davey following his side's woeful start to the season.

Davey knows he is on thin ice and admits he is desperate for a win against Brian Laws's men.

He said: "With the group of players we've got we can put it right against Wednesday. We won't need to motivate the players, it's a local derby."

    **** me

"We won't need to motivate the players"

YES you do Simon. Your players are not from Barnsley, the majority are not from the UK, they do not care about a local derby against Sheffield Wednesday, it means nothing to them.

It is YOUR job to motivate the players and the fact you are stating that you don't need to do so goes a long way to explaining our performances over the last 9 months and just why the players did well against teams that they had heard of themselves regardless of their country (Liverpool and Chelsea) and yet under perform agaisnt everybody else.

The players are foreign not aliens ST

They have played in them before and will know the importance of this game for the club and its fans.

To think that foreigners don't have derbies or understand the importance is basically nonsense.

I hope the foreigners in the side appreciate the "local derby" aspect of tonight.....

    otherwise we are stuffed.

    RE: Won't happen.

Cryne talks about no managers wanting to come because we sack too quickly. But how long will it be before he has to listen to the fans. Stronger together and all that, a goal behind and the davey out will start. Another home game on saturday, I think he will start to listen to the fans if things continue as they are. Things like personality and leaving good players out can be forgiven if we are playing well or getting results.

Personality + refusing to give players a chance + playing **** + losing + relegation position = sack

Any way you look at it, something has to give.

I didn't say that they didn't know what a derby was

I said that this derby will mean little to them on a personal level. Why would Diego Leon from Spain have a hatred of Sheffield Wednesday? he wouldn't, to him they are just another team.

why would Rigters care? He isn't from Barnsley, Wednesday are just another team and what's more, he isn't even a barnsley player full time, he's just on loan

    Not so sure

If we get a tonking he could well be out. I don't think that will happen though.

None of our players seemed to appreciate it against donny

they were very poor until the sending off which showed to me that their fighting spirit came being a man down and trying to overcome the odds (something that often happens when a player has a man sent off) and had very little to do with us playing in a derby or they would have shown the same spirit before the sending off as well.

i think its rubbish saying the club cant attract managers cos of our high turnover. surely a unemployed manager would come to us plus he gets compensation if he did get the boot

Just going on Mr Cryne's interview. I think he reckons Davey is the man, despite current form.

Sometimes it better that they don't 'care'.

Remember Kay & Austin against Donny? Exactly what we want that is.

austins was never a red card for me

i'd much prefer to see someone showing that amount of passion than watching somebody stroll around the park for 90 minutes though

    Everyone has their breaking point

I don't claim to be able to second guess Mr Cryne, but I know he's a passionate Barnsley fan and he'll be furious if we fail to perform tonight. Like I said though, I don't think it will come to that and I think we may get a victory.

Who'd you want as new boss ? Given my track record in judging managers I'll keep quiet.
