Your MP not very knowledgable on general subjects. Makes one wonder about the quality of those who represent us.
Dan Jarvis Former officer in the Parachute Regiment who has been awarded an M.B.E. for his military services to his country. He took up the case for Ben Parkinson, when the M.O.D. tried reneging on it's financial obligations towards paying for Ben's medical requirements. Dan's wife died three years ago from bowel cancer. He has a B.S.C. in International Politics. He's a very good MP. I just wish he was mine.
Re: Dan Jarvis Must admit I do think some of the stuff Dan raises as issues are more to get attention rather than in the interests of the people of Barnsley.
I don't think he got a single question right and didn't even contribute to the discussion most of the time, and that's with easier questions than on the regular show, plus he thought "Sold out" was an anagram of Salvador Dali, earning Paxman's mockery. It's hard to believe that the Labour Party couldn't have found someone local who was smarter.
I watch that program and wonder what they are a on about half the time and I've got a degree as well. Quite pleased I've got through life without knowing half of that stuff
Just realised we're on about University Challenge here - to be honest, just because someone knows the answer to the bullsh*t arty farty questions on there doesn't mean they are destined to go far in life. It's a typical BBC tripe programme designed to indoctrinate another section of society.
Emailed him a few times and in his replies he seems very keen - but he's a politician at the end of the day, you have to wonder what their agenda is. Unfortunately their main agenda is getting re-elected and continuing to pick up the excellent salary and lifestyle. An MP is never under any real pressure, that's all reserved for the Prime Minister or leader of the party.
Well if his degree is in International Politics then that is a very narrow subject (sounds like he always wanted to be an MP) so that's not going to be good for a breadth of knowledge, at least in his case he has served in the armed forces as well and has experienced life outside of politics, although I'd still rather have a local rather than someone from Nottingham, but I can see why they chose someone from outside the area given that the last MP ended up in prison, just like the Rotherham Labour MP has just been sent to prison.
You might be right there, I got about 20 right, I usually get about 10 but they've made it a bit easier for the celeb version.
Well, my local MP is George Galloway, so... But I meant Dan 'the man'. Not the MP. I can't be arsed with politics. Because as you say, I can't help but feel they're in it for what they can get out, not what they can put in. But he comes across as a decent bloke. Whether he'll be a decent MP or whatever I dunno.
I think Labour, the Conservatives and the Lib Dems are traitors and EU puppets. Vote UKIP and save the UK.
Except it was invented by ITV and I think is still made by an ITV production company. In these days when most of our youngsters are now Uni-educated it's a diverting bit of fun. Watching it with Kaht Junior can be embarrassing for me though!
